 Manchester marked the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy Tour on Tuesday 26 May with a moment outside Central Library, set against the Emmeline Pankhurst statue.
The Lord Mayor of Manchester joined Dame Sarah Storey and partners from across the city to celebrate Manchester’s role as a host at Emirates Old Trafford this summer and help build excitement for the tournament.
Showcasing Manchester’s landmarks, the tour highlights the city’s global appeal and sporting heritage. Hosting major events like this reinforces Manchester’s commitment to women’s sport, inspiring participation and opportunity while supporting more women and girls to be active.

With inclusive sessions, community rides, training and events, there are plenty of ways to get involved – whatever your ability.

 Manchester will take its place on the global sporting stage once again as the NBA brings a historic regular-season game to the city in 2027.
The New Orleans Pelicans and the San Antonio Spurs will face off at Co-op Live on Sunday 17 January 2027, marking the first-ever NBA regular-season game to be played in Manchester.
This landmark event reinforces Manchester’s growing reputation as a world-class destination for major international sport, showcasing the city’s ability to attract and deliver global events that captivate audiences and inspire communities.

Nominations are now open for the Manchester Sports Awards 2026, taking place Saturday 28 November at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel.
Do you know a talented athlete, a dedicated coach, or a selfless volunteer who makes Manchester a global powerhouse of sport?
Here in Manchester, we understand the power of sport. Perhaps no other city in the world truly grasps the significance of sport and physical activity as a catalyst for positive change.
Sport is in our blood, it runs through our veins, and it's woven into the fabric of our communities. A tentpole event in the Manchester sporting calendar, the Awards provide the opportunity to celebrate the city's incredible sporting community.

 Great news for Manchester!
New Sport England Active Lives data shows more Manchester adults are moving more than ever before:
- 76.4% of adults are now exercising at least 30 minutes per week – that’s an all time high for Manchester (up 3.8%)
- 66.3% of Manchester adults are ‘active’, exercising over 150 minutes per week (up 2.3%)
- •Fairly active adults are up for the first time in four years
- Inactive adults have fallen to 23.6% – the lowest level since 2017
Manchester is now above the national average for active adults!
This shows long term investment in sport, physical activity and community opportunities is working – helping more people move, feel better and live healthier lives.

 NETBALL EVENT OF THE SUMMER IS COMING
 Less than one month to go.
The road to the Soft & Gentle Grand Final is heating up, and Manchester is ready.
With the regular season coming to a close and the race for the finals tightening, everything is building towards 20 June at Co-op Live.
This is where champions are made. The biggest night in netball, in the UK’s biggest arena.
