Tomorrow (11 April) marks Parkinson’s Awareness Day, and we’re proud to share a look inside the ‘Feel Good Fitness Class’. A class created by listening directly to what people with Parkinson’s told us they needed.
In partnership with Parkinson’s UK, and led by Coach Tam, the session offers tailored, low impact movement in a space where people feel safe, supported, and understood.
Following feedback that general exercise classes weren’t suitable for many people with Parkinson’s, we worked with Parkinson’s UK to create a dedicated, condition specific programme led by Coach Tam and focused on safety, accessibility, and confidence building.
The group has grown rapidly over the past six months and has already moved to a new home to keep up with demand. A testament to how valuable condition specific activity can be.
We took time to visit a session at the Resonance Centre last year. To watch our film and hear from Coach Tam and some of the participants, CLICK HERE.
Coach Tam has now launched a brand new funded session at The Beacon Centre, that began earlier this week:
- £2 per session
- Tuesdays | 11:00am – 12:30pm
- The Beacon Centre
- 131 Barrington Street, Clayton, M11 4FB
Subject to availability. Advanced booking is required. For enquiries please contact Nutrition4thought@outlook.com
Today we recognise the strength of this community and the importance of creating spaces that truly support them.
Looking for local support? Parkinson's UK advisers can support anyone with Parkinson's, their family or carer. please email hsturman@parkinsons.org.uk or visit parkinsons.org.uk

TfGM is committed to making walking, wheeling and cycling more accessible to the people of Greater Manchester.
So, to support this, TfGM have launched a new e‑bike subsidy scheme, designed to help remove financial barriers to cycling to purchase and own an e‑bike.
Cost is one of the biggest barriers to e‑bike ownership, and this scheme aims to remove this for people who would benefit the most.
The scheme offers vouchers worth £300, £800 or £1,000, redeemable at selected bike shops across Greater Manchester.
Applications are open to residents aged 16+, with priority given to people and communities who are under‑represented in cycling or who may struggle to afford an e‑bike without support.
To learn more about how the scheme works, eligibility information and the application form, please head to the TfGM website here.
