 On Sunday 15 February we officially opened the MaxTrax Pump Track at Delamere Park and what a brilliant day it was!
The Openshaw community turned out in full force. Children were straight onto the track, while families enjoyed music, food and games throughout the afternoon. We were also joined by Olympic cyclist Ed Clancy, who tested out the track himself, a real highlight for everyone there.
The MaxTrax journey is an inspiring example of what a passionate community can achieve when they come together to create lasting benefits for local people.
Huge congratulations to the MaxTrax team, we can’t wait to see the positive impact this new track will bring to the community for years to come.

We’re recruiting two Holiday Activity and Digital Support Interns to join Manchester Active for a 12-month placement.
This is your chance to gain real-world experience, support Manchester’s Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, develop digital and operational skills and make a genuine impact across the city.

 LTA Youth Tournament is here!
We’re excited to be hosting the LTA Youth Tournament this February and March at:
- Wythenshawe Park
- St Mary's Park
- Parr Fold Park
Open to U14, U16 and U18 players, this fun and competitive tournament is a brilliant opportunity for young players to gain match experience, build confidence and enjoy tournament tennis in a supportive environment.
Running over 6 weekends (different age groups each week), prices start from just £2 per player

England Cricket are calling on passionate people across England and Wales to help bring the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 to life.
Volunteers will be at the heart of the action, welcoming fans, supporting event operations, and creating the atmosphere that makes this tournament unforgettable.
If you love sport, events, community, or simply being part of something special, this is your chance to play a key role in a global celebration of women’s cricket.
The tournament is looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers aged 18+ (by 31 May 2026), confident in English, able to commit to at least two shifts, and willing to complete security checks. Our programme is open to everyone, with inclusive support offered to ensure suitable opportunities for all.
As a volunteer, you’ll gain valuable experience, meet new people, receive training, enjoy a tournament‑specific uniform, and get meals while on shift. Step forward, get involved, and help shape a defining moment in women’s sport!

 Manchester stands united against hate.
Leader of Manchester City Council Cllr Bev Craig has urged urged Manchester to come together against hate, asserting Manchester's core values as a welcoming city with diversity and respect.
The message from Manchester's leaders is one of unity, urging residents to come together against hatred in all its forms.
A poster is available for residents, communities and local organisations to download and display should they wish. By sharing it in windows, workplaces and community spaces, we can visibly show that Manchester stands together as one city against hate.
