Recently we delivered the ‘Manchester: Let’s Walk!’ 2 hr workshop to The Beautiful Minds group, based in Moston.
The group will deliver walking activity to older people as part of their Active Seniors sessions, which support local residents to become more active, and also address loneliness and isolation in the local community.
The interactive session covered the many benefits of walking, the barriers people may face and how to overcome them, how to design and deliver walking activity, plus creative walking ideas and further resources.
One attendee said: "This walking workshop was so educative. An eye opener of the benefits from frequent walking exercise".
Interested in the next workshop? Please contact l.kinrade@mcractive.com for more details.

Over the past few weeks and months, British Cycling have recently been developing a ‘Community Activator’ training course.
The first pilot course, delivered on 12 November, was attended by a range of volunteers & instructors who deliver cycling activity.
After the training, John Wynch (Community Developer, British Cycling) gave a tour of the National Cycling Centre to the participants.
One of the attendees, Sumayra, was captivated by the velodrome and asked if someone like her could ride it. A session was arranged for Sumayra and a group of women, who wouldn’t normally believe they could ride on the track, to have a one hour session coached by John and Craig Ansell.
Both British Cycling and Manchester Active are keen to make this a more regular event, and have already had a number of enquiries from the participants based on their positive experience.

Your views on savings options of up to £41.5m which have been identified for 2025/26 and beyond, plus proposals on how much you pay for council tax, can help shape the decisions.

With a winter season full of events, such as Christmas shopping, festive markets, pantomimes and concerts, we all have a role to play in keeping each other safe.
Your safety and security is paramount, that’s why we are supporting the Counter Terrorism Policing winter vigilance campaign.
Stay alert to people filming security exits, entrances or CCTV or anything that doesn’t feel right. We can all play our part in defeating terrorism, by reporting via this link. You won’t be wasting police time.

Manchester City Council & Manchester Active have launched a survey to better understand how people use our leisure centres and facilities.
We are currently meeting with as many groups as possible to engage further to understand how different sections of the communities are accessing physical activity within Manchester.
We are particularly interested to hear people's feedback on the targeted sessions which currently run across leisure centres. These can include activities such as:
- women only swim or gym sessions
- wheelchair tennis
- walking football for over 50s
- LGBT+ club sessions
Have your say! Complete the survey by clicking this link.
The closing date for the online survey has been extended to Monday 16 December.
