SEND-friendly cinema
The next relaxed cinema with MPFC is ‘Inside Out 2’ (U rating) on Sunday 20th October, 11am-1pm. Siblings are welcome to join this SEND-friendly screening for families living in the Manchester City Council area at GRUB, 50 Red Bank, Cheetham Hill, M4 4HF. First come, first served. MPCF now has a SEND Community Offer Film Club. Half term swims
There is a free weekly inclusive swim at the Abraham Moss Leisure Centre in Crumpsall, M8 5UF, for families living in the Manchester City Council area. Sessions are every Saturday 12-2pm. Booking is arranged through The SPACE Group. It opens every Monday at 9am and closes on Wednesday at 6pm for the swimming session on the Saturday that week, eg. 9am Monday 14th October to 6pm Wednesday 16th October for the swimming session on Saturday 19th October. Text the word SWIMMING to 07749 116211 with the full names of anyone going in the pool, the children’s date of birth, postcode and preferred time 12-1pm or 1-2pm.

Sensory rooms
Spend time in the Sensory Rooms at Redbank House over the half term at 4 St.Chad’s Street, Cheetham Hill, M8 8QA. This includes an additional bigger room, bringing all the sensory equipment together with some soft play. This exciting addition caters better for some SEND children and their siblings. There are slots available at various times between 9am-4pm (on the hour for 50 minutes) during weekdays from Monday 21st to Friday 25th October. Wythenshawe - venue change
It’s a change of venue for this half term’s sensory room in Wythenshawe. It’s at Benchill Children's Centre, 22 Lyndene Road, M22 4PZ. The room is a calming space filled with controllable sensory lights, soft cushions and a small box of toys. Hour slots are available for up to 4 people during half term week, 9am until 2.30pm. Please call 0161 529 0080 (option 5) to book.
Did you know, the sensory room at Benchill Children’s Centre is free all year round? While the safe, non-judgemental environment of the Children’s Centre is an under 5’s service, anyone over this age is welcome to use the room.
Simply Cycling
Manchester Parent Champions have organised two free cycling sessions with Simply Cycling during the half term for families living in the Manchester City Council area:
- Monday 21st October, Boggart Hole Clough, 1-1.45pm, Charlestown Road entrance. Running track is to the left as you drive in.
- Friday 25th October, Wythenshawe Park, 2-2.45pm, Athletics track, Wythenshawe Rd, M23 0PH. Parking at the track.
Please text ‘Bike B’ or ‘Bike W’, depending on which session you would like to attend, and the number of places to 07305 064229. Places are limited and on a first come first served basis.

Get drive ready
Manchester Parent Champions are running another Drive Ready Workshop on Wednesday 23rd October, 1.30-3pm at Crumpsall Sure Start, 1 Cromhurst Street Crumpsall, M8 5FN (Tiddlywinks Nursery on Google Maps). The workshop is aimed at neurodivergent and disabled young people age 15 years and 9 months onwards and living in the Manchester City Council area. Autumn forest school
Manchester Bees and Manchester Urban Diggers return with Family Forest School in two locations:
- Beswick Hive, Thursday 24th October, The East Manchester Academy Manchester M11 3TA (enter via the student entrance to the garden, to the far left of the library).
- Platt Fields Market Garden, Friday 25th October, Platt Fields Market Garden, Mabfield Road, Fallowfield, M14 6LT.
The Forest School is an outdoor drop in at both sites between 11am-3pm, with vegetarian lunch served around 12.30pm. Activities include sensory play in the mud kitchen, sand pit, and water areas, den building, giant bubbles, bug and scavenger hunts and fire lighting and tool use, with snacks on the fire from 2.15pm. Family SEND Club
Join the SEND North Family Hub and Manchester Parent Champions on Saturday 26th October, 2.30-4.30pm, for board games, sensory room, crafts and snacks and juice.
