Summer With MPCF - NEW!
Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF) will be running an exciting range of inclusive activities for SEND families during the summer holidays. Activities include exclusive movie screenings at Cineworld Parrs Wood and GRUB cinema, family bowling at TenPin Printworks, a Power UP session at The Science and Industry Museum, sessions at Manchester Art Gallery and The People's History Museum - and more!
Activities are for families living in the Manchester City Council area. Booking will be available from 6pm on Wednesday 12th July. Check out MPCF’s Eventbrite page.

Sow The City - PLACES AVAILABLE!
Sow the City are running SEND Woodwork & Nature Sessions at the Moss Side Powerhouse on Tuesday and Thursdays in the summer holidays, 1-3pm, starting on Tuesday 25th July. Activities include making bird boxes and bug hotels, slate carving, wooden keyrings, and nature crafts and walks. The activities are suited for 12+ but all the family is welcome. It’s at the Powerhouse, Moss Side, 140 Raby St, Manchester M14 4SL and is for families living in the Manchester City Council area. Book by emailing info@sowthecity.org or ringing 0161 465 6954.
Sensory Rooms - NEW!
Spend time in the Sensory Rooms at Redbank House in Cheetham Hill over the summer. Free slots are available at various times between 9am-4pm (on the hour for 50 minutes) during weekdays from Monday 24th July to Friday 1st September (excluding Monday 28th Bank Holiday). Families have free use of the Sensory Room at Benchill Community Centre in Wythenshawe over the summer. Each slot is for 45 minutes and on the hour. It's Monday 24th July to Friday 1st September (excluding Monday 28th Bank Holiday). Call the community centre on 0161 946 9520 to book. For families living in the Manchester City Council area only.
Skateboarding With Projekts - NEW!
There are fantastic free coached skateboarding and scootering classes this summer! They’re for SEND young people and siblings aged 11-25 living in the Manchester City Council area. Sessions are every Friday from 28th July until 1st September, 2-4pm, at Projekts MCR Skatepark, 97 London Road, M1 2PG, including drinks and snacks. It’s flexible, meaning you don’t have to go to all sessions, but booking is essential - call the Specialist Resource Team on 0161 219 2125, Monday-Friday, 10am-3pm.
Football With City - NEW!
City In The Community are offering inclusive football and multi-sports sessions for children aged 8 to 16 years with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) living in the Manchester City Council area. Sessions are on Wednesdays 2nd, 9th and 16th August, 10am to 2pm at The Manchester Tennis & Football centre, Etihad Campus M11 3FF. Lunch included. It’s flexible, meaning you don’t have to go to all sessions, but booking is essential - call the Specialist Resource Team on 0161 219 2125, Monday-Friday,10am-3pm.
Youth Club - More dates!
Community Kitchen chef Roger is running a youth club every Wednesday in July, 4.30-6.30pm - with dates on 12th, 19th and 26th July. There are also additional dates in the summer holidays - Wednesdays 16th, 23rd and 30th August! There's cooking (and eating!) each session, as well as arts and crafts, and sports. It's at Procter Learning Centre, Hulme Street, Off Jackson Crescent M15 5EF. It's for young people with SEND and their siblings aged 11-19 living in the Manchester City Council area. Young people can dip in and out of sessions but booking essential - call Roger on 07970 922132.

Family Forest School - PLACES STILL AVAILABLE!
The SEND Forest School is back for the summer, offering an inclusive and urban forest school experience for Manchester City Council families. It’s a stay and play activity - drop in any time between 10am-3pm, vegetarian lunch around 12 noon. There’s a warm welcome for all ages, including sensory play in the mud kitchen, sand pit, and water areas, fire lighting and tool use (snacks on the fire from 2.15pm), den building, nature crafts and giant bubbles – as well as a chance to meet the bees. Suitable for all ages and developmental stages.
It’s on Tuesday 25th and Monday 31st July, and Tuesday 1st, Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th, Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th, Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd, Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th August at Platt Fields Market Garden (off Mabfield Road, Fallowfield, M16 6LT).
This is an outdoor event with wheelchair and pushchair routes through the main arteries of the garden. The children's garden is grassy and, in parts, uneven. There is baby changing and a step-free access toilet with space to change available. Let Sian know of any access needs when you book. The aim is to create a space where everyone can be their full selves.

Self-defence Session - PLACES STILL AVAILABLE!
Take part in a fun self-defence session with Manchester JYC and Manchester Parent Champions at Manchester Youth Zone, Harpurhey, M9 8AE on Sunday 27th August, 1-2.30pm. It’s for age 10+ and children must be accompanied by an adult. Parents/carers are welcome to join in the session if there is availability. Bee Safe Manchester are coming in to run the workshop and their previous workshops look fantastic. For SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area. Booking essential. Boating At Heaton Park - NEW!
Boating is back at Heaton Park lake this summer! There are two dates – Monday 7th and Monday 14th August, 10am-12 noon – with one booking only per household. To book, send one text only to The SPACE Group at 07749 116211 on Monday 24th July between 10am-12pm. You will be allocated a 25 minute time slot. The types of boat are: rowing boats, swans (pedalo) and electric boats (only 2 available). Your text needs to include: your name + additional adult names + children names ages + postcode + preferred date + boat type (swan, row or electric).

Tree Tops Nets & Trek - SECOND WAVE
The popular Tree Top activity is back this summer for SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area. As well as the nets, there are also Tree Top Trek sessions on the hirewire obstacle course. Only one date per household for this stage – further dates will be available.
Tree Top Nets
10am-12 noon Tuesday 8th August, Thursday 10th August, Friday 11th August, Tuesday 15th August, Thursday 17th August and Friday 18th August
- Minimum age 3; children under 5 to be accompanied on the nets by an adult (18+); for children over 5, adults must remain in the activity area.
- Safety briefing starts at 10am promptly; an online waiver must be filled in before arrival - you will be sent this information via text.

Tree Top Trek
12-2pm on Tuesday 8th August, Tuesday 15th August
- There is more safety criteria with Tree Top Trek. This will be discussed with you when you ring to book.
- Minimum age 5; all children under age 12 need an adult (18+) to participate with them; for children aged 5-6, there needs to be 1 participating adult to 2 children; for 7-11 olds, it is 1 participating adult to 3 children; for children age 12+, an adult must remain in the activity area at all times.
- There are two options: the Mini Trek takes around 1 hour and reaches 8m high, the Full Trek is around 2 hours and reaches 18m high. Suitability will be discussed when you ring.
- The Trek safety brief starts at 12.15pm promptly; if you are late you will not be able to take part.

Simply Cycling
Simply Cycling is wheeling in for the summer! It’s a chance to feel part of a community, having fun on their range of adapted bikes. The free sessions for SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area are in hourly slots on the hour, with no need to book – just drop in.
