Family Cinema
Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF) has planned an exciting series of free relaxed cinema screenings over the summer months. It's for SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area, with showings at GRUB / CULTPLEX, a street food and independent cinema venue in the Red Bank area of Manchester city centre. The first showing is on Saturday 10th June, 10am to 12 noon - and you can vote for what you would like to see! Here's the poll, closing at 6pm on Sunday 21st May:

May Fun In The Park
There’s fun for the family in two Manchester parks this half term with The SPACE Group, Manchester Parent Champions, 4CT Limited and Simply Cycling. There’s cycling, picnic, games, arts and crafts and more!
Choose one of two events:
- Tuesday 30th May, Boggart Hole Clough, 12-4pm
(Park next to the athletics track or the main car park, which is a short walk away at the top of Charlestown Road)
- Friday 2nd June, Wythenshawe Park, 12-4pm
(Parking at the athletics track, off Wythenshawe Road)

Arcade Afternoon
Bury Arcade Club has been booked out on Wednesday 31st May, 1.30-4.30pm, for the inclusive use of SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area! Make your own way by car or public transport to Ela Mill, Cork Street, Bury BL9 7BW (1 mile from the station) for an afternoon of family fun on four floors of arcade machines, pinball, games consoles and other exciting gaming attractions, modern and classic. There are 150 places on this fun-filled trip with Our Space Youth Club for children with SEND and their close family. Email jo_chloe@hotmail.com or message 'Our Space Youth Group' on Facebook (private group) giving your name and how many places you would like. First come, first served. Nearer the time, please let Jo know if you are unable to make it so the places can be offered to someone else.
Sensory Rooms
Spend time in the Sensory Rooms at Redbank House in Cheetham Hill over the half term. Free slots are available at various times between 9am-4pm (on the hour for 50 minutes) during weekdays from Tuesday 30th May to Friday 2nd June. For families living in the Manchester City Council area only. Book directly with Redbank House on 0161 214 5959 or email info@redbankhouse.com.
Families have free use of the Sensory Room at Benchill Community Centre in Wythenshawe over the Whitsun holiday. Each slot is for 45 minutes and on the hour. It's Tuesday 30th May to Friday 2nd June. Call the community centre on 0161 946 9520 to book. For families living in the Manchester City Council area only.
REGULAR ACTIVITY
Cycling Opportunity for 11-16s
MANCCYCLES and GMYN offer an exciting opportunity for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs living in the Manchester City Council area. Riding sessions are every Saturday 11am-3pm, meeting at the Procter Learning Centre, Hulme Street, Off Jackson Crescent M15 5EF. Bikes, helmets and other safety equipment are provided for cycle routes across Greater Manchester, along with regular bike maintenance sessions. All young people take part in a pre-ride induction before attending Saturday rides but need to be competent riders. Family Swims
The SEND-family swims at Moss Side Leisure Centre are now free as part of the SEND Community Offer! Sessions are every Sunday 9-11.30am and are for families living in the Manchester City Council area. The swim provides a calm environment and a clear process from entry to the pools. Families can access the small pool and floats for family fun or use the main pool for lane swimming when available. Please note: children need to be accompanied in the water by parents/carers. For now, there’s no need to book – just turn up at the leisure centre. The picture shows Rasema, Manchester Parent Champion, who swims most Sundays and can help you get settled.
Manchester residents aged 16 and under can swim for free during any ‘Swim for All’ session during school holidays and at selected times during term-time weekends. Find out more on the Better website.
FLIP At Projeckts
FLIP are free weekly sessions at Projekts skatepark near Piccadilly Station, running until 18th July 2023. It’s now every Wednesday (instead of Tuesday) in term-time 4.30-6.30pm. It's a chance for young people with SEND aged 8-25 in the Manchester City Council area to enjoy an hour of skateboard coaching, followed by an hour of music-making with Billy and Andy who offer accessible music workshops. Siblings can join in too. Families are welcome to hang out in the cafe during the sessions or watch the skateboarders from the viewing balcony.
