Make sure you visit your library soon, and remember we no longer charge fines on books that are overdue, so do return any books that you borrowed a while ago.

Local and Community History Month
Manchester Libraries launch a new family history resource online in May when rate books for Greater Manchester boroughs go live at Findmypast.co.uk.
Events are planned across the city featuring advice on how to use the new resource alongside existing resources like the census to do your own family history. For details see Local and community history month – manclibraries blog

Angel Delight’s Eurovision Drag Party
The perfect party to make your Eurovision week go with a boom bang a bang! Join the dream diva, Angel Delight, for an evening of singalongs, card games, bongo bingo, music quizzes and lots of surprises, all with an added Eurovision sparkle! Central Library Monday 10th May 8pm-10pm, over 18s only.

50 Years of Rock Photography
Jill Furmanovsky : Photographing the Invisible - Exhibition . For the last 50 years, Jill Furmanovsky has been photographing music’s greatest icons, Guest curated by Noel Gallagher and photo-historian Gail Buckland, the exhibition which is presented by Rockarchive.com features over 100 images.

Photographing the Invisible with Jill Furmanovsky & Jon Savage - Join Jill in this special talk with Professor Jon Savage from the British Pop Archive, talking archives, curating the exhibition and the difficulty of choosing what to leave out. Manchester's Gasholders Photographic Exhibition
The two gasholders in East Manchester have always been a huge presence in the urban landscape of Beswick and Miles Platting. To mark their dismantling, Manchester Libraries will be hosting a range of community activities including films, displays of artefacts and educational activities relating to these historic structures, starting with a Photography Exhibition at Beswick Library 4th May - 2nd September.

Bring photo ID to vote in the Local Elections on 4 May
From 4 May 2023 registered electors will need to show photo ID when voting at polling stations in elections.
If you don't have an acceptable form of photo ID, you can apply for a free 'Voter Authority Certificate', but you must apply before the deadline of 5pm on 25 April 2023.
A full list of acceptable ID, which includes accepted ID issued in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can be found at electoralcommission.org.uk/voterID
Each Manchester Library has been holding support sessions where staff are on hand with mobile devices to walk you through the applications process and help you take and upload a photograph until 5pm on 25 April. Find your local support session. You can also attend the Customer Service Centre at the Town Hall until 5pm on 25 April to get help with taking and uploading a photograph or if you need a paper form.
