Thursday 18 August 2022 - Reminder that Hive launches on 8 September!

EpicCare Link training now available for LCO staff

• The e-learning module for the EpicCare Link read only access to Hive that all LCO staff using clinical systems will need to complete is now available for staff. EpicCare Link is the web portal that will allow community and non-MFT staff to view a real-time version of a patient’s Hive MFT acute medical record using the internet.
• All staff who have access to clinical systems have been allocated this training through the Learning Management System and need to complete the training before Hive go live on September 8. Please complete it as soon as possible.
• The e-learning is in one easy to access video module and it will take about 35 minutes to complete.
• See below for important messages on accessing and completing the training and some sections that are not relevant to LCO staff. This is because at go-live safeguarding referrals and ordering tests will remain within their existing platforms for LCO staff (Ulysses for safeguarding referrals and ICE for ordering tests).

What the training looks like

The training is basically a video guide to what EpicCare Link is, how to access it and how to use some of the main functions that will allow community staff to see the key aspects of the acute medical record. This is the welcome screen you'll see.

Within the training are demonstrations of how to access records and check key information such as medications and ongoing treatments (all using dummy patient information like this version shown in the picture).

IMPORTANT - Sections in the video that are NOT relevant to LCO staff and can be skipped

There are two sections in the e-learning that are not relevant to LCO staff and can be skipped. These are:

• 21 mins and 53 seconds - Placing Orders. Safeguarding referrals for LCO staff will remain within the Ulysses system at go-live of Hive and ordering tests will be completed through ICE for Community or Primary Care requests or Hyperspace (the full version of Hive) for Acute requests. That means that you will not need to use the Placing Orders function in EpicCare Link for safeguarding or for ordering tests. There is a message telling you in the video that you can skip this section. You need to resume from 24 mins 52 seconds - Monitoring Patient Events.
• From 38 mins 54 seconds - Site Admin Workflows. This final section to the end of the video is not relevant for LCO staff so you can finish watching at this point.

How to access the training

The e-learning can be accessed through the MFT Learning Management System (LMS) that you should have registered for access to earlier this year:

If you have forgotten your login, follow the instructions on screen.

On the LMS you will find the training in your assigned profile - it should look like this image to the right. Click on the course to open it up and complete it. You need to watch all the video (asides from the two sections mentioned above) although you don't necessarily have to do it in one sitting.
