Cost of living help
Check you're getting all you're entitled to on the new helping hands page on the Manchester City Council website. The 'Help for older people' page lists what you can and can't claim for when you reach state pension age.
It's going to be a tough winter and we're encouraging everyone to ask their older friends and family, 'have you topped up? have you checked you're getting all you are entitled to?'.
There's information on free NHS prescriptions and the free bus pass (all buses within Greater Manchester 9.30 am - midnight, Monday to Friday, and all day weekends and bank holidays). You can also check whether you can get Carer's Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Attendance Allowance.
We know so many older people are missing out on vital income because they don't realise they are eligible. For Pension Credit alone, around 7,500 Manchester residents could be getting on average an extra £78 per week. And once you get Pension Credit, you could also be eligible for help with housing costs, Council Tax reduction and a free TV licence if you're over 75.

Older people needed for new GP experience survey
Share your experiences of Manchester GP practices via this new survey from the NHS Manchester Integrated Care Partnership.
Over the last two years, the way people have used healthcare services has changed due to the pandemic. It's important that older people's views are heard on key changes that have happened, such as more services online and over the phone.
If you are registered with a GP practice in Manchester, your input will help the NHS understand your experiences of using services from your GP Practice and what matters to you.
