Living With COVID-19
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister gave a statement on the plan to live with COVID-19. The Government are removing all remaining domestic restrictions in law in England. This includes:
- It is no longer law to self-isolate if you test positive. This means self-isolation support payments will end, although Statutory Sick Pay can still be claimed for a further month.
- If you’re a fully vaccinated close contact or under 18 you will no longer be asked to test daily for seven days.
- If you are a close contact who is not fully vaccinated you will no longer be required to self-isolate.
- From 1st April, free symptomatic and asymptomatic testing for the general public will end but still be provided to those at the highest risk from Covid.
- The most vulnerable will continue to have targeted vaccinations and treatments, including a new Spring booster for those aged 75 and over, older care home residents, and those over 12 who are immunosuppressed.

The Government has announced a two-part Energy Bills Rebate. This includes an upfront discount on bills worth £200 for all domestic electricity customers in the UK. However, it’s expected to be recovered through an increasing standing charge on bills in the future. The Rebate also includes a non-repayable council tax rebate of £150 for households in bands A to D, as well as £144 million of discretionary funding for those in need not eligible for the council tax rebate. Find out more in this government news.

This Citizens Advice information is about help with energy bills.
