MCRactive have teamed up with We Love MCR to raise awareness of the nationwide 2.6 Challenge initiative which started on 26 April 2020. They’re inviting all Mancunians to dream up an activity that involves the numbers 2 & 6 and complete at home over coming weekends.
This could be something as simple as young Kenny’s 2.6 garden assault course or Jack attempting to walk 2.6 metres on his hands. Other ideas include run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, to gardening for 26 minutes. There are no rules – apart from the Gov guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time.
Simply take an image, share across our city by tagging @MCRactive #MCRactive and then donate via the JustGiving page. During these uncertain times, the fundraising and donating is crucial to all! We Love MCR Charity raise funds that will directly support local groups & charities, improving our local communities.

The current coronavirus pandemic has meant that fitness classes have had to close their doors. As we know, it's still important to incorporate daily exercise into your routine for your physical and mental well-being...but who says it can't be fun?
Many local instructors have come together to amp up at home fitness resources, including free live-streaming. We've selected just 3 amazing dance workout sessions from local champions across Hulme, East Manchester and Wythenshawe for you to enjoy and join in.
Dance Fit with Diane
Diane Higgins who usually runs her evening Dance Fit on Monday 6.15pm (Ardwick Sports Hall), Wednesday 6.45pm (St Werburghs Church) and Fridays 6.15pm (Active Lifestyles Centre), has taken to Zoom to continue to keep in touch with her participants and keep everyone active. Picking up over 120 views over the past week, participants have been joining her weekly sessions online and have thanked Diane saying they “loved that loads!”.
Diane is always looking for additional participants, if anyone wants to join Diane from Hulme in her front room? Zoom Meeting ID: 745 152 2969.
