Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice and guidance – Friday 20 March

Leisure and sports centres

From 10pm tonight (Friday 20 March), all leisure and sports centres operated on behalf of Manchester City Council will close to the public until further notice.

We are working closely with our leisure operators to ensure existing memberships are protected and honoured so that service users are unaffected once the facilities reopen.

Markets

Public Markets in Manchester will close at the end of trading on Saturday 21 March and remain closed until further notice.

New Smithfield Market wholesale will stay open to help keep shelves stocked.

This is a precautionary measure to protect customers and traders.


What you need to know about Council services

Some Council buildings will be closed to help limit the potential spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), but essential Council services will continue to support residents as much as possible.
