Dear colleague

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is developing a registration scheme for short-term lets in England and invites your local authority to register your interest in participating in research and engagement opportunities related to the scheme.

Whether your area has a high or low concentration of short-term lets, your voice is important. Your input will help us understand the potential impacts and burdens of the scheme and ensure its development meets the diverse needs of local authorities across the country.

Online survey

Please complete this short online survey

A few things to note:

  • You must register your interest by 13 April 2025.
  • This survey does not have to be completed by yourself.

Only one response per local authority will be accepted

Please nominate one official to complete the survey on behalf of your local authority. They may need to consult with colleagues in other teams to gather all the requested information This could involve consulting colleagues working on visitor economy, housing policy and standards, planning, licensing, housing regulatory services, enforcement, private rentals, and council tax.

The survey must be completed in a single session

A Google Doc version of the survey is available that you can share with colleagues to help you gather all the information before entering them into the online version.

The Google Doc also provides information about the registration scheme, the survey’s purpose, instructions on how to complete it, and how we protect your data.
