This newsletter provides a round-up of all the relevant news that Employer Link has gathered over the last month.

Teachers’ pay 2025 (England)

The DfE published their written evidence to the STRB. The LGA, having surveyed Employer Link subscribers as well as a range of all relevant school employers, published the national employers' (NEOST) written evidence. Find more on the LGA website.

The headline to the DfE evidence states that the Government considers “a 2.8% pay award would be appropriate for 2025/26” – for more background please refer to the Employer Link bulletin of 16 December.

The School teachers’ pay and conditions (Wales) document 2024, was also last updated at the end of November 2024.


Pay negotiations: JNC for Teachers in Residential Establishments

The JNC have published the JNC TRE pay circular for 2024 with the sleeping in duty allowance increasing in line with the NJC award, and other allowances increasing in line with the STCPD award.


Pay negotiations:  JNC for Youth and Community Workers

The JNC for Youth and Community Workers has reached a Pay Agreement for 2024 which is a pay increase of £1290 for all Youth and Community Workers in England and Wales.


Pay negotiations: JNC coroners

Agreement has now been reached on the Joint National Council for Coroners, with effect from 1 April 2024, local salaries and day rates for individuals derived from the JNC arrangements below should be increased by 2.5 per cent.


Equal pay

The LGA has produced guides to support organisations manage their risk to equal pay. There are two versions, one is for officers with responsibility for policy implementation, the other for members with responsibility for the governance, policy, scrutiny and audit of pay and conditions for its workforce.

Soulbury Workforce Survey has been published, providing an insight to the characteristics of educational improvement professionals, educational psychologists and young people’s / community service managers.
