Before providing details around the 2025 teachers pay award process, and a request for Employer Link subscribers to feed into the statutory consultation process, we would like to provide an update on the 2024 process. Please note that the 2024 process has not yet concluded, despite the start of the 2025 consultation.
The National Employers Organisation for School Teachers (NEOST) response to the Department for Education (DfE) consultation on teachers’ pay and funding for 2024 was signed-off and returned on Monday 7th October. Thanks to those Academy Trusts (61) that responded to our survey to help shape this response. The Government needs to respond to the consultation responses, before finalising the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document (STCPD) for 2024, and thus allowing employers to implement the pay award: which will follow the three week “praying period” that the final legislation must go through before coming into force. The NEOST response and all relevant information can be seen on the LGA webpage for teachers' pay 2024.
The Secretary of State has now also written to the School Teachers Review Body (STRB) to formally commence the 25/26 pay round. The employers are pleased that the process is starting much earlier this year.
As a statutory consultee, NEOST has been asked to provide evidence to the STRB for its 35th annual report. As usual, NEOST is now inviting Employer Link subscribers and Academy Trusts in general to participate in the evidence-gathering survey (to inform its evidence back to the STRB).
Scope of the survey:
- Our survey asks questions about affordability, budgeting, and its impact.
- We ask for evidence on recruitment and retention challenges.
- Your views on amending the STPCD in relation to TLRs and full time/part time teachers. Invite views on flexible working.
- Some final open questions seeking views on other changes you would like to see considered, and in particular, anything that might improve equality.
Survey guidelines:
- Submit one response per organisation
- As such, you are the only person in your Trust that is receiving this email. Please share as necessary, and co-ordinate who will be responsible for submitting the response (views of HR, Finance and the Senior Leadership Team would be helpful).
- Collaboration document. If you wish to collaborate with colleagues on the survey, you will need to condense all the views into one response to comply with the one response per organisation. Please do not share the link to the online survey with schools as we only accept 1 online response per organisation, but if you would like a Word version of the survey to share and gather views please contact info@employerlink.gov.uk.
- Please answer with the majority of the academies in your Trust in mind. Skip questions you cannot answer.
- Open questions: please keep these as concise as possible.
Complete the survey via this online form.
Deadline: no later than Friday 8 November 2024
