Preparing staff for Care Quality Commission assessment: New toolkit

Our new toolkit is designed to support lead officers in councils as they prepare colleagues for a pending Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessment.

It covers how to prepare frontline staff and managers who may need to engage with the CQC in focus groups, one-to-ones, or whose records could be part of a CQC case tracking sample. The toolkit is based upon the experience and learning of delivering our current support offer to councils, which includes frontline staff workshops.

The toolkit consists of guidance and three other tools - a scoping meeting outline, a set of Powerpoint guidance and presentation slides and an evaluation template. To access these additional tools, email cqcassessment@local.gov.uk

What good looks like for digital working in adult social care

We've published a new prospectus to support councils looking to improve their adult social care digital maturity.

Following on from the launch of Digital working for adult social care: What good looks like framework, we've developed a three-tier support offer, which includes national, regional and council support.

We offer a self-assessment tool, work with ADASS regions to support improvement, and offer direct support to those councils which are early on their digital journey.

Insights from client level dataset - adults accessing long term support in adult social care

LG Inform now includes the first report in a series highlighting metrics derived from the client level dataset (CLD).

This time series report covers metrics focused on people accessing long term support by age group and support setting.

We will add in comparable annual data from the 2022-23 Adult Social Care Finance and Activity report (as taken from SALT).

Improving discharge from hospital through data

We're exploring how local data in LG Inform can be used to think about and discuss issues related to integrated care services.

The new report focuses on the number of people discharged to settings other than their 'usual' place of residence following a stay in hospital and the number of avoidable admissions per 100,000 population. It is based on data available at a local authority footprint, including the metrics published through the Better Care Fund exchange.
