In this month’s bulletin, the spotlight is on two of our virtual events. Firstly Evidence for prevention in children’s services on Wednesday 18 September. Knowing what works to improve children and families’ lives is key to better outcomes and good use of resources. But what does the latest evidence tell us and how can councils use this to improve local services? Join Foundations, the What Works Centre for Children and Families, to explore the latest research and what this looks like in practice.
Secondly, our New councillor induction: South-East region on Thursday 12 September. This will provide an opportunity to meet other new councillors and hear from more experienced councillors, as well as introducing the LGA’s regional team outlining what support is available from the LGA. The session will look at the national local government context through a South-East lens, discuss the role of councillors, and give councillors an opportunity to discuss their experiences four months in as well as to ask any questions.
