National apprenticeship week
National apprenticeship week (NAW) takes place between 5 to 11 February 2024 and is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of apprentices around the country and the positive impact they make to communities, businesses, and the wider economy.
The DfE is calling on individuals, employers, training providers and communities to get involved by encouraging everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help to provide #SkillsForLife.
Don't forget to use the hashtags #NAW2024 and #SkillsForLife on social media.
Local government apprentice of the year 2024
Do you know an amazing apprentice?
The event takes place on 21-22 May 2024 and is an excellent developmental opportunity for apprentices to learn, network and showcase their skills and expertise.
Apprentices will work in virtual teams to experience the opportunities, risks, and challenges involved in delivering successful local government services, with a chance of winning an award for their efforts.
The event is open to all Level 2 and 3 local government apprentices. We welcome registrations of apprentices from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This event is jointly run by East of England Local Government Association, South West Councils and the LGA, with great prizes and inspirational speakers from the sector.
Booking is open until Tuesday 30 April 2024.
LGA apprenticeships mapping tool
The apprenticeships mapping tool has been updated and is available on the Apprenticeship Group K-Hub.
Further updates to the tool will take place on or around the 1st of each month through to April.
Apprenticeship pathway sessions
This year's webinar programme is listed below.
The 'Spotlight on' sessions provide a more in-depth review of apprenticeships for each occupation, hearing about challenges and successful practices from councils who have implemented this apprenticeship as part of their programme.
As usual, all webinars will be recorded and the recordings and slides from each session will usually be available the day after the session takes place.
Please forward the links on to anyone in any of relevant departments in your council – we want these to be seen by as wide an audience as possible.
