Digital switchover and scams risk

We've issued guidance following a series of recent reports of criminals using phishing emails, fake websites, or phone calls to trick vulnerable residents into providing personal information to steal money or commit identity theft.

Services that rely on the old landline system are being switched over to new upgraded landline services using digital technology. The switchover will affect around 1.8 million people who use health care telephony devices.

We have produced guidance that councils can take to raise awareness amongst residents, and prevent and disrupt anyone from using the digital switchover as a means to advance criminal activity.

Please send any weblinks or resources that you have developed by 13 October 2023 to  adi.cooper@local.gov.uk.

Flexible working in social care

We've joined forces with the Social Workers Union to help promote our resources aimed at supporting flexible working in social care teams.

Our flexible working in social care page contains guidance, practical tips and pitfalls to avoid to help you make flexible working part of your wider agile working arrangements.

We’re seeking a small number of councils to test the resources. Over an 18 week period, we’d work alongside you to test a different approach to flexible working in a couple of teams to help build capacity and confidence for wider implementation. Please email PCH@local.gov.uk if you might be able to help.

Practical learning and tools for integrated care systems

We've worked with NHS Confederation, NHS England, National Voices, and the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action, to develop a platform which helps integrated care systems (ICSs) bring about system change.

One of the key priorities for ICSs is to help the NHS support broader social and economic development. The Systems for Change toolkit captures the learning from systems making strides on this objective.

Presenting practical insights in bitesize chunks, it guides you through everything you need to know to make progress on social and economic development.
