Events
Photographic voter identification and raising awareness Thursday 9 February 2023, 2.00pm - 3.00pm (Webinar) The Elections Act passed through Parliament in early 2022 and introduced a new requirement for photographic voter identification at Parliamentary elections, Police and Crime Commissioner elections, and local polls in England. This new requirement will come into force at the local elections on 4 May 2023.
In preparation for this change, the Electoral Commission has launched a public awareness campaign. The campaign will include a combination of mass media and targeted digital advertising to maximise the reach of the campaign. In addition, the Commission has developed a range of resources to help local authorities to support residents to understand the new requirements.
Join us at this briefing from the civil servants from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the Electoral Commission to learn more about the new voter identification requirements and the public awareness campaign that was launched on 9 January. The webinar is free to attend for LGA member councils. Book your place now.
