Embedding cyber resilience in local government supply chain – our e-learning course is now live

Last week we launched our new online guidance on Embedding cyber resilience in local government supply chains and we’re pleased to announce that our accompanying e-learning course – Foundations of cyber resilience in local government supply chains – is now live. The free e-learning course provides local government procurement officers and contract managers with an in-depth introduction to cyber security, helping them to embed greater cyber resilience in supply chains by implementing cyber security best practice throughout the procurement cycle.

Better Hiring Institute's toolkit for local authorities

Local authorities are working harder and harder to provide the best value possible from their diminishing budgets. In a situation where it is so important to provide more for less, the last thing that local authorities want, or need is to employ someone who is not honest from the outset. There is overwhelming public support for keeping dishonest people out of the public services. The Better Hiring Toolkit for Local Authorities is intended to provide some pointers to local authorities to help them gain assurance about who they are employing.

Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund: second round

The Government announced the timeline and guidance for the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) – Wave 2.1 ahead of the competition launch in late August / early September. £800 million has been committed for the SHDF and Government hopes to allocate as much of this as possible in this round. The delivery window for this round will run to 30 June 2025.

Economic development e-learning module

Councils have key roles to play in driving forward economic development – for example, by bringing partners together, bridging the skills gap, helping businesses to thrive, and delivering regeneration schemes. Our new economic development e-learning module for councillors and officers introduces the key principles of economic development: people, pillars, partners, prosperity and plans. It offers tips and guidance, giving insight into key issues and offering guidance on how to develop and deliver effective action plans.

Councils nominated for Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Excellence in Procurement Awards

Shortlisted finalists for this year's CIPS Excellence in Procurement Awards have been announced and we’re delighted to see that Birmingham City Council, Essex County Council and Kingston London Borough Council have been nominated among many other public sector organisations. The awards will be presented on 21 September.
