Dear Colleague,

Next Tuesday from 9.30am-11.00am, we will be hosting our webinar on 'COVID-19 and ethnicity' and we would be delighted if you are able to attend. Further details and speakers are below.

Some groups within our communities are being disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Increasing evidence and concern regarding the impact of Covid-19 on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups (BAME) led to the announcement, earlier this month of the Public Health England (PHE) Review on COVID-19 and BAME.

The review, led by Professor Kevin Fenton, National Director for Health and Wellbeing at PHE, will provide more robust data on the factors impacting Covid-19 cases and the severity of the outcomes for different groups in the population and is due to be published by the end of this month.

In this webinar, we will hear from Professor Fenton on the outcomes of the review, before we discuss the important role of local government in mitigating the disproportionate risks posed by COVID-19 to our BAME communities.

We will also hear from:

  • Cllr Paulette Hamilton, Chair, Health and Wellbeing Board, Birmingham City Council
  • Dr Justin Varney, Director of Public Health, Birmingham City Council

To book your place, please register for the event here

Please feel free to share this email with colleagues who may also be interested in attending; it is free to attend to all councils and government departments.

Best wishes
