Group Leader's Bulletin

9 April 2020

twitterfacebook

Dear friends and colleagues,

It has been another very busy week with lots of discussions trying to get the best for people at this difficult time. I’ve had some really useful discussions with our Council Leaders, the LGA’s Chairman and Group Leaders and Ministers, with key challenges focused around PPE, finances and how we best support our shielded and other vulnerable people, with support from our voluntary groups.

Receiving your good practice and challenges is critical to making sure Ministers know what’s happening on the ground.

The other challenge this week has been councils getting to grips with remote meetings, following the publication of the Coronavirus Act regulations. You can now find a hub of good practice on the LGA’s website. How is this working in your council?

There is also a FAQ in our coronavirus hub, which should be everyone’s first port of call.

The Group Executive met today to agree some critical business and to also share regional updates on the issues at hand. Our members really are doing an incredible job as community and council leaders.

Do look after yourself over the weekend and wishing you all the best for the Easter weekend.

Kind regards,
