Dear colleague,

In partnership with Social Work England, the Department for Education and the Department of Health and Social Care, the Local Government Association is delighted to announce the launch of the Social Work Together campaign.

Social Work Together is about helping councils respond to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on their workforce and communities.

Social Work England has issued an urgent appeal to bring returning social workers back to the frontline to support the local response to coronavirus. So far, there has been a very positive response.

A temporary register of professionals is now live, paving the way for people to return to practice during this national emergency to support individuals and local communities in great need.

As part of the next step in the process, we are delighted to provide a platform to connect social workers offering their expertise to local employers.

Councils in need of further support are invited to register for immediate access to our online tool that will help them find social workers who are returning to work in their areas.

As part of the registration process, candidates are asked to outline what areas they have experience in across:

  1. Adults
  2. Mental Health
  3. Children & Family
  4. Additional specialist areas

Councils will be able to review the skills and locations of our candidates and get in touch with them directly to discuss employment opportunities.

For more information about Social Work Together you can visit our website.

To ensure that as many councils and returning social workers benefit from this opportunity as possible, we ask you to help us share the campaign with your networks. Please contact us if you are able to help us promote the campaign or for have any technical-related questions.

For any other queries related to Social Work Together, please contact the Department for Education.
