Dear colleagues,
Our fifth Political and Clinical Leaders Annual Summit, with NHS Clinical Commissioners, on 27 February was an “inspiring” day with over 60 leading members and CCG leaders attending. Key messages from the event:
- we need local solutions to national plans
- the importance of taking a wider approach to ill-health and prevention, addressing the wider determinants of health at place level (such as housing, access to good employment, a safe and accessible environment, access to good education and the best start in life)
- developing relationships between political and clinical leaders remains key, with an emphasis on links between local councillors and GPs.
All of this will be taken into account as we review our health improvement and prevention offer and we are also working on making the links to the new Primary Care Networks.
We have launched our free leadership offer for 2019/20 and developed a workshop that explores organisational differences between local government and the NHS.
