LGA diversity and inclusion in the Fire and Rescue Services: masterclass

As part of the LGA’s work under the Fire Services Management Committee, we are running Member development masterclasses during January and February next year. These masterclasses are free to all elected members of Fire and Rescue Authorities and are aimed at promoting and developing elected members role in diversity and inclusion in their Fire and Rescue Services.

This is a particularly timely opportunity to address issues in this agenda, considering the results of the first tranche of inspections in December. We strongly encourage members to take this opportunity to engage officer perspectives on this agenda and to share experiences of challenges and good practice with other members from different authorities.

The full agendas, dates and locations of the masterclasses are listed below and booking on to the masterclasses should be possible through the booking pages:

West Yorkshire, 18 January 2019

Exeter, 31 January 2019

Lancashire, 12 February 2019

Birmingham, 20 February 2019

Innovation Zone: LGA Conference 2019

Each year at LGA Annual Conference, the Innovation Zone showcases the best work by local authorities, showing how local authorities and their partners are tackling problems locally innovatively. This year, the theme is “Taking the Plunge”, and the organising team is looking for brave, innovative ideas that have paid off and for organisations that have not been afraid to try new approaches.

If you want to be part of the Innovation Zone this year, please submit your innovation here by no later than Sunday 27 January.
