If so, you could be part of next year’s Innovation Zone, a vibrant, creative space and programme within the LGA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition, taking place from 2 – 4 July 2019 in Bournemouth. Take the plunge! Tell your story, share your lessons and help others multiply your success.
To help councils continuously improve we want to bring together learning from across local government, so we can better describe the characteristics of efficient councils and create a package of support in one place. If your council would be interested in helping to co-produce this please get in contact.
Sign up to become a peer and join our next Corporate Peer Challenge - Peer Training Session on 6 December 2018, which covers the methodology used for corporate peer challenges and key principles of peer working. Delivered by experienced LGA staff, they are free to attend by both officers and elected members, and are aimed particularly at new peers.

Commercial skills for officers – the LGA and the Institute of Directors have developed a practical commercial skills course for officers working in commercial environments. There are a few places remaining in Leeds and new dates have just been released for Winchester.

Annual local government finance conference: Moving the conversation on – this conference will address the hot topics of the 2019 Spending Review, the implementation of greater business rates retention and the Fair Funding Review in 2020, as well as other issues that shape the broader local government finance agenda. The programme will include plenary sessions with keynote speakers including Rt Hon James Brokenshire MP, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government and Andrew Gwynne MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
