The importance of community

Easter crafts

During the 12-16 May it was Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme was 'community.' Being part of a community can boost our mental health in many ways
, helping us feel happier and safer.

A great example of community in action is at our older person’s scheme in Memorial Drive, where residents gather every Tuesday for a craft club in their community lounge.

During a recent crafty afternoon, they decorated some spring wreaths and flower pots!

£500 Unlocking Success Bursary

Have you signed up to education or training but are finding it difficult to cover the costs of things like travel or equipment costs, or even course fees?

bursary application

The Northern Housing Consortium has opened Unlocking Success, its tenant bursary scheme, for applications. It’s offering a mixture of grants for specific items such as laptops or travel passes, and £500 cash bursaries to support with the cost of learning. The bursaries can be used to cover costs including course fees, travel, equipment, childcare and even living expenses.

If you’d like to apply, you can contact your Neighbourhood Officer or our Money Matters team at moneymatters@lfha.co.uk or call on 0113 386 1000 and they'll help with the quick and easy application process.

Customer Engagement and Influence Policy update!

People

We're updating our Customer Engagement and Influence Policy to make it clearer and align it with new consumer standards around transparency, influence, and accountability.

We listen to your feedback in many ways and use it to shape our policies and improve how we deliver services. This includes through surveys, complaints, local meetings, walkabouts, and on Your Voice.

We also work with the Customer Voices Panel to better understand customer experiences and ensure all voices are heard.

You can get involved by registering on Your Voice, following the Customer Voices Panel page, and share your thoughts on the new draft Customer Engagement and Influence Policy!

Have your say

person on phone

On 12 May until 6 June, we'll be carrying out phone surveys with a random sample of 150 customers. The results of the surveys will feed into our next Tenant Satisfaction Measures.

The surveys are carried out by M.E.L Research on our behalf and the questions cover tenant perception measures, and wider feedback.

Your feedback helps us understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve.

If you're unsure and want to double check the validity of the survey, you can contact Ayesha Lynn-Birkett from M.E.L Research on the free phone number 0800 0730 348 or email AyeshaLynn-Birkett@melresearch.co.uk

So if you get the call please do take part!

Book your next Time to Talk session on fairness and respect

Speech bubbles

Join our next Time To Talk sessions on Tuesday 10 June at 12:30pm or 7pm.

These sessions will be hosted by Zuzka Downing Area Manager and Helen Thompkins Customer Experience Manager. They’ll explore how we can keep our communications positive, fair, and respectful in every interaction with customers.

Sometimes conversations over the phone or at appointments can become difficult due to stress or misunderstandings. This can place added pressure on colleagues and impact our ability to support everyone as effectively as we’d like.

We're reviewing our policy and the practical approach we'll take to protect customers, colleagues, and contractors in situations where emotions may run high and interactions become more intense or difficult to manage. At the same time, we remain committed to providing the necessary services with care and respect.

We're keen to discuss this with you and hear your thoughts and experiences!

Get into gardening!

Gardens

With spring in full swing and summer on its way, we've created a get into gardening page on Your Voice! This page is all about sharing the joys of growing your own plants, visiting local parks and simply just connecting with the world around you.

On the page you'll find a space to share your gardening tips, photos, and stories - whether it’s your first sprouting seed or a thriving garden jungle. We also invite you to highlight local gardens and parks in your area that others can visit and enjoy!

We've also featured a blog from our Community Spaces team, giving a behind-the-scenes look at how they care for communal green spaces year-round.
