25% of bin fires reported to us were started by accident.
You can avoid bin fire accidents by storing your bins securely, keeping bin lids closed and making sure you don’t put hot items in your bin – this includes things like: BBQs, smoking cigarettes, hot embers from coal/wood etc.
|
- If you notice a bin on fire, call 999 straight away.
- If you have concerns about communal bins get in touch with us.
"Bin fires can quickly spread so it’s important to look after your bins and keep them secure." - Asif Aslam, Asset Manager (Building Compliance)

In our latest blog, our Health and Safety Manager, Gav, talks about his role at Leeds Federated and his everyday activities that help us keep everyone safe and meet health and safety legislation. |
If you need to report something that’s unsafe in your Leeds Federated home or one of our buildings, or you feel one of our colleagues or contractors is working in an unsafe way, get in touch with us.

Last month we started a consultation on service charges. We wrote to all customers affected by service charges to explain our proposals to change from a pooled charge approach to a proportional charge to cover the cost of cleaning and maintaining communal areas and garden maintenance. And to introduce a charge for fire risk assessments where they're required. |
More than 60 customers responded to the consultation with questions and queries.
