The Leeds Digital Inclusion Fund - Briefing Event 

1 July, 2pm to 3pm, online

Join us online with Leeds Community Foundation to hear about The Leeds Digital Inclusion Fund, made possible thanks to support from Leeds Digital Ball.

The Leeds Digital Inclusion Fund will support the development and delivery of sustainable digital inclusion interventions in Leeds. We want people in Leeds to have the skills, support and equipment they need to be active online, now and in the future.

During the event, we'll share information about The Leeds Digital Inclusion Fund criteria and application process, as well as the support that 100% Digital Leeds can offer organisations thinking of applying.

The event will be recorded, so even if you can't make the date you can still register and you'll be emailed the slides and recording afterwards.

Digital Poverty Alliance - How Digital Access is Transforming Health Outcomes Webinar

1 July, 1pm to 2pm, online

Digital Poverty Alliance are partnering with Virgin Media O2 Business to lead a live webinar exploring how digital inclusion can improve patient experience, strengthen health outcomes, and ease pressure on overstretched systems.

Rachel Benn from 100% Digital Leeds will join the panel alongside Meryl Mullins, GP Digital Facilitator Team Leader, NHS Greater Manchester and Mark Burton, Health Lead, VMO2 Business.

The conversation will bring together speakers from local government, primary care, and industry to examine how digitally excluded populations are being supported across the UK, from targeted skills support and community-led delivery to innovation and systems change.

This session is designed for those working in health, local government, technology, or the voluntary sector - and for anyone interested in what inclusive digital delivery looks like in practice. King's Birthday Honours 2025 

Jason Tutin, Head of 100% Digital Leeds has been awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to Digital Inclusion in the King's Birthday Honours for 2025. 

Jason has been recognised for his services to digital inclusion and praised as a 'national trailblazer' for his work to equip people from all backgrounds and communities with the skills, confidence and access to adapt to the digital world.

The official release reads: 'He is a role model and outstanding leader on digital inclusion, his innovative approach to facilitating local change on a sustained basis can be replicated across the country to create national change and improvement.

Leader of the Council Ed Whiting said 'The award is richly deserved and a massive testament to his work and that of the entire 100% Digital Leeds Team. Huge congratulations to Jason and all who continue to help make Leeds a leader in Digital Inclusion – we are all proud of what you’ve achieved and excited about what’s coming next!'

Partner profile

GIPSIL

Each month we profile one of our delivery partners, showcasing their excellent work and giving examples of how they have integrated digital inclusion into their services.

Over the last three and a half years, 100% Digital Leeds has been working with GIPSIL to increase digital inclusion for their clients, with an initial focus on supporting access to employment. Through its Employment and Engagement service, GIPSIL has started to tackle digital exclusion to ensure that lack of access to technology is no longer a barrier to a stable home or meaningful employment. Groundwork Yorkshire - Digital Skills Workshops

Groundwork Yorkshire are about to start reserving places for their summer workshops and for their new classes from September (Autumn Term 2025) at the Groundwork Yorkshire Learning Centre. Digital classes include Digital Art Summer Postcards and Digital Skills through Family History.

Vera Media Limited - Computer Classes

Tuesdays until 29 July, Hillside, ASHA Centre, LS11 6JG

Vera Media Limited is offering free weekly classes for anyone on Universal Credit and for women looking to build confidence with computers. Sessions are led by an experienced Digital Skills Tutor in small, friendly groups, with personalised support throughout. Spaces are limited, so please contact Vera Media before attending. Meeting Point

Christ Church, Armley Ridge Road, Leeds, LS12 3LE

Meeting Point have just been added to the Leeds Community Digital Support Directory. Aiming to serve the needs of refugees and asylum seekers, they provide a range of community provisions in association with other organisations. They offer sim gifting and have equipment to use on site. Visit the Meeting Point website to find out more about their offer

SIM Gifting from Leeds Libraries 

To support people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, community hubs and libraries across Leeds have SIMs available with up to six months unlimited calls and texts plus data to help people stay in touch and get online. 

People can be signposted to Central Library, Armley Community Hub and Library, Reginald Centre Community Hub and Library, Compton Centre Community Hub and Library, Dewsbury Road Community Hub and Library.

New sim gifting sites just added: Bramley Community Hub and Library, Hunslet Community Hub and Library, Seacroft Community Hub and Library.

Tablet Lending from Leeds Libraries 

Leeds Libraries can support community organisations’ digital inclusion programmes by lending iPads with data to be used with service users. Please email Leeds Libraries to express an interest.

iPads are also available for individuals to borrow at Armley Community Hub and Library, Compton Centre Community Hub and Library, Headingley Community Hub and Library, Holt Park Community Hub and Library, Hunslet Community Hub and Library, Reginald Centre Community Hub and Library, Seacroft Community Hub and Library. People can be signposted to any of these sites to borrow an iPad for up to eight weeks. Proof of address is required to borrow a device.

Digital Drop-Ins at Leeds Libraries

Every week there are several digital drop-ins at libraries around the city, supporting people to use their tablet, smartphone or computer to try something new. People can take their device or use a library PC and talk to friendly librarians who will help them get started. Find the dates and locations of the Digital Drop-Ins on the Leeds Inspired website.

Free webinar from AbilityNet - Dementia and Digital Adjustments that can Help

2 July, 1pm to 1.45pm, online

Hear from Dementia UK about touchscreen apps for people living with dementia and guidance on adaptations to make apps more user friendly, to enhance engagement and enjoyment. AbilityNet will also share practical ideas for digital tools that can help people manage daily life with dementia.

Training and networking opportunities from Good Things Foundation

Good Things Foundation have a series of training and networking opportunities to support organisations with their digital inclusion offer. To attend, organisations need to be a member of their National Digital Inclusion Network. The network is free to join.

Generative Minds AI Series - How to use AI for Bid Writing

15 July, 12 midday to 1pm, online

The first session in a brand new AI training series developed specifically for hubs in the National Digital Inclusion Network by Generative Minds and Good Things.

National Databank Information Session

17 July, 2pm to 3pm, online

This session is for organisations who are not yet part of or are already part of the National Databank. Find out how to join the National Databank, along with the other services available to you as part of the National Digital Inclusion Network. Supporting People to Use Digital Health Services

21 July, 1pm to 2pm, online

This session is for staff and volunteers from hubs in the Network who currently support or are interested in supporting people to use digital health services. Learn more about the digital health barriers people face, and how hubs are helping individuals access tools such as the NHS App, GP booking systems and video consultations. The session will include insights from recent research, a new resource to help build confidence in using digital health tools, and opportunities for hubs to share their own experiences. Get Online Week Hub Drop-in

22 July, 1pm to 2pm, online

This session is for organisations getting ready for Get Online Week or those who’ve only just heard about it and want to learn more. Find out how to plan your activity and get support from Good Things staff and experienced hubs. The session will be informal, with discussion led by your questions. Migrant Help transition to eVisa support

Migrant Help can support vulnerable people across England to transition to eVisa. Their free government funded service can offer support either face to face or remotely and they welcome the opportunity to work alongside Leeds Based  organisations to ensure that people are receiving the eVisa support they need.

Help for British Sign Language (BSL) users

SignLive is a free service that will connect you to a qualified online BSL interpreter. The interpreter will relay the conversation between you and a member of staff. It can also be used for face-to-face conversations when travelling through one of Metro's bus stations in West Yorkshire.

Co-creating ways to navigate and mitigate against misinformation and disinformation

Ofcom have just published the findings from their co-creative qualitative research into navigating and mitigating against misinformation and disinformation.

This research has been carried out as part of their media literacy programme of work, to help inform Ofcom’s media literacy duty under the Online Safety Act to heighten public awareness and understanding of the nature and impact of misinformation and disinformation online, as well as ways to mitigate exposure to such information.

Mis/Disinformation Hub

Mis/Dis-Information has never been more prolific, according to OFCOM over 70% of the public have encountered it online. Ensuring the public have the tools and resources to be able to easily identify when something is deliberately misleading is as important as being able to report it, alongside tackling much wider systemic issues across social networks.

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority have created a Mis/Disinformation Hub full of resources for spotting and reporting misinformation and disinformation. Find the Mis/Disinformation Hub on the Liverpool City Region website

A Minimum Digital Living Standard for UK Households in 2025 - Briefing Paper

The Minimum Digital Living Standard (MDLS) is a benchmark, developed with members of the public, for what households need to feel digitally included. This briefing outlines what is in the MDLS for UK Households in 2025, and how MDLS can be used to inform policy, provision, and partnership working.

Preparing for the 3G network switch off

The UK's mobile networks are completing their 3G shutdown this year, with O2 being the final provider to switch off in 2025. Vodafone, EE, and Three have already completed their transitions. For further information about the 3g network switch off visit the Good Things Foundation website

Funding 

100% Digital Leeds are keen to support the development of any funding bids with a digital inclusion element, or to help you embed digital inclusion throughout your project. If you would like support contact us.

Some funding links will take you through to the Funding Leeds website and you will need to register to access the information. Once you have registered for free you will have access to a national database of funding sources and get regular email updates on your funding area of interests.

Islamic Relief UK Grants Programme

Grants are available for charitable organisations across the United Kingdom to deliver projects and activities that support marginalised people, including women, young people, and refugees, and help build resilience to poverty

Amount: Up to £40,000.

Deadline: 7 July.

MSE Charity's Summer Application Round

A limited number of grants are available to small to medium-sized UK not-for-profit organisations for projects which are focused on delivering activities which make a lasting impact on how people think, behave and manage their money. The first step is to take the eligibility quiz. Groups who have successfully completed the quiz will receive an email on 2 July with a link to access the online application form.

Amount: Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are available.

Deadline: 10 July.

VCSE Work and Health Trailblazer Fund

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups in Leeds to support projects that engage economically inactive people with health conditions or disabilities, helping them begin their journey towards employment.

Amount: £15,000 to £100,000.

Deadline: 8 July, 5pm.

Stay Well This Winter Grants

Grants are available to community groups for projects in Leeds that can help people who are the most vulnerable to the adverse effects of cold and severe weather. The current round is for projects for winter 2025/26.

Amount: Up to £3,000.

Deadline: 31 July.

The Access Foundation

Grants are available to registered charities, CICs, educational establishments and CIOs for projects that mitigate the digital divide by making computing facilities, support and/or learning available to disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Amount: Up to £100,000.

Grants are available for charities in the UK working in the fields of environmental action and sustainability, social action, peace and reconciliation and Quaker work.

Amount: Up to £5,000.

npower Business Solutions Foundation

Grants are available for not-for-profit and educational institutions within 50 miles of LS15 8ZB to support projects that have a positive impact on local communities, improve places and spaces, and provide opportunities for individuals to reach their potential.

Amount: Funding is available in three bands, up to £100,000.
