E-bikes and e-scooters are a low-cost way of getting about, if the lithium-ion batteries become damaged or begin to fail, they can start incredibly ferocious fires. Never charge e-bikes or e-scooters overnight or when sleeping and never charge where it could block your means of escape or in communal areas.
Fires involving lithium-ion batteries can reach temperatures near 1,000 degrees. In the event of a fire – do not attempt to put the fire out. Get out, stay out, call 999.

Shelter are holding free one-hour Money Information Sessions at BITMO’s GATE!
With the support of Shelter volunteers, these sessions aim to support individuals facing challenges with living costs and work towards preventing homelessness. The sessions will cover money saving tips, guidance on where to access financial support, and offer signposting to relevant services – ensuring attendees can access the broader help they may need. BITMO tenants can attend, as can housing association or private tenants and even homeowners who are struggling to pay the mortgage.
The sessions are held at BITMO’s GATE for one hour at 12pm, and the first one is on Monday 30 June. No need to sign up – just drop in!

What are the benefits for you?
You can order non-emergency repairs through your Tenant Portal account. You can also book appointment slots for some repairs, making the whole process easier.
The Portal is available 24/7 making it a quick and easy way to report repairs – you don’t need to wait for our phone lines or offices to open.
As well as booking repairs you can:
- view the details of any recent repairs you've had done
- view your up-to-date rent account
- download a rent statement
- view information about your tenancy
- request permission for a range of items such as keeping a pet or making alterations to your home.
Want help setting up your Tenant Portal account? Please come to BITMO's GATE on Monday 9 June from 11am-12pm or Tuesday 10 June from 5-6pm.

- Listen to the In Harmony Opera North Choirs, with children from Windmill Primary, Low Road Primary, Clapgate Primary and Sharp Lane Primary
- Meet lots of local volunteer groups
There will be food stalls, with a maximum price of £4.50 for a plate of food or £1.50 for cakes and snacks.

Here’s BITMO’s GATE Programme for June
Leeds City Council is carrying out a survey of tenants and leaseholders, about the maintenance of communal green spaces near you, including grass verges. This is in preparation for a new management contract next year and to set the standards for how this service is delivered in the future. The survey will take between 3-4 minutes, over 3 pages, and will close on 30 June 2025. You can take part in the survey by clicking this link.
