The Safeguarding in Higher Education Network is a space to share practice, navigate expectations of national regulatory bodies such as the Office for Students’ Condition E6, and collaboratively address shared safeguarding challenges.
The network has launched several initiatives, including a bulletin, webinars, sharing good practice, and training.
Essex Chambers have published two guidance notes providing overviews of the relevant laws and principles regarding:
- Assessing & determining best interests
- Assessment and recording of capacity
Edge Training Limited are hosting free online courses designed for families and informal carers covering a range of legal topics:
Mental Health Act for families - an overview of the Mental Health Act and the rights people have under this law.
Mental Capacity Act for families - focus on mental capacity in the context of day to day activities and understanding some of the key duties as a Lasting Power of Attorney or Court Appointed Deputy.
Care Act for families - gives family members, friends, and those involved in supporting loved ones, key information about their rights under the Care Act 2014.
In Leeds, over 61,500 unpaid carers look after someone close to them.
With a varied programme of events, Carers Week is a chance to celebrate the amazing work they do, raise awareness, and connect carers with support from Carers Leeds and their partners.
