West Yorkshire Safeguarding Week, 23 to 27 June, is an opportunity to celebrate and share good practice, raise public awareness about abuse and neglect, and learn more about safeguarding related topics.
In this bulletin there's information about free events for people whose roles involve safeguarding, and suggestions for helping raise people's awareness of abuse and neglect. But we'd also like to hear what you are planning for the week.
We've teamed up with Boards and Partnerships from across West Yorkshire to provide a week of events covering a range of fascinating topics for people working with adults and children. All the events are free of charge.
Don't miss out! Safeguarding Week events are always very popular, so reserve your place quickly.
We have films, posters, and leaflets that you can use to help members of the public learn how abuse and neglect can happen and how to get help to be safe. Some resources are available in community languages, Easy-read, and BSL.
We give talks to members of the public to help them learn about keeping safe from abuse. They are free and available Monday to Friday. We cover:
- what abuse is and how it can happen
- people who are more at risk of it happening to them
- who might cause abuse and where it can happen
- how to get help to be safe
We'd like to hear how you will use the week to raise awareness of safeguarding in your organisation, with your colleagues or people using your service. It could be an information display, a themed coffee morning, guest speakers or something else. It doesn't have to be a big event, small things can make a big difference too.
