Getting rid of stuff from your home or garden?

Inside Revive shop

Give your stuff a second chance!

The things you don’t want anymore could be just what someone else is looking for.

You could swap with friends, list on a dedicated selling site or app, donate to charity, or use an organisation that will take the items.

It’s the quickest and most environmentally friendly way of getting rid of anything from around the home or garden that you no longer want, that’s still in good condition or working order.

Reuse drop-off containers are at all 8 of our household waste recycling centres, which are free to use and open 7 days a week.

If you fancy a preloved bargain, Revive Leeds have reuse shops in Hunslet, and at our Kirkstall and Seacroft household waste recycling centres. You can also drop off any donations at the shops.

Check who you pay to take your rubbish away

If you pay someone to remove rubbish from your home, always:

  • Ask to see their waste carrier licence
  • Pay by card or bank transfer and get a waste transfer receipt
  • Ask where they are taking the waste to dispose of it

Or better still, use a LAWCS member. The Leeds Accredited Waste Carrier Scheme helps residents find someone local, legal and responsible to take away excess waste.

Be aware of adverts on social media offering cheap rubbish removal

If you give your rubbish to someone else and it is found to be fly tipped – you could be fined.

Our 8 household waste recycling centres are free to use and open 7 days a week.  Find your nearest centre at www.leeds.gov.uk/recycling
