ENVIRONMENT AGENCY – FLOOD WARNING
River Aire at Allerton Ings, Barnsdale Road and Properties - Kippax and Methley ward
Flooding is expected for: Allerton Ings including the A656 Barnsdale Road between Allerton Bywater and Castleford.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
Following overnight rain and snowmelt. levels on the Aiver Aire at Castleford are rising, as a result the Aire has started to spill into Allerton Ings.
Levels in the Ings have started to rise, flooding of Barnsdale Road is expected from lunchtime 6th January onwards.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Aire, Aire Washlands, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Allerton Ings including the A656 Barnsdale Road between Allerton Bywater and Castleford.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.
This message will be updated by 06:00PM on 06/01/2025, or as the situation changes.
The RET Duty Officer is monitoring the situation and will be attending teleconferences as required. Updates will be issued in the form of SWG bulletins according to need
