Welcome to our latest bulletin. I'm pleased that this edition features our new logo. It was created by listening to people in Leeds who said it needed to be simple, showing that safeguarding work should always be person centred. So, the letter A is designed around a person. We hope you like it.
I'm also excited to tell you that we've launched our new website. Again, created with input from people in Leeds, it's now easier to find information, more accessible, and has a new section for members of the public.
It's that time of year when we publish our Annual Report. I hope you will take the time to read it, or watch the short film that gives a summary of the work that many of you will have been involved in.
Don't forget that Leeds Safeguarding Week starts on 18 November. It's a great opportunity to promote safeguarding in your workplace, and we've added more free training and learning events to the programme.
Cuckooing is a growing form of exploiting and harming people, particularly those with care and support needs. So this bulletin has links to resources to help you develop your knowledge of cuckooing and raise awareness with the people you support.
The Board is thrilled that Susan Hanley, one of our Safeguarding Ambassadors, has written her memoir. Take away the label challenges stereotypes and promotes inclusivity for people with learning disabilities. We wish Susan the best of luck and we're sure her book will be a hit.
And, on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank you for your continued support for safeguarding adults work in our city.

Feedback told us that our website wasn't easy to use. So, we've created a new site by working with, and listening to, people with safeguarding roles. And, we've had conversations with people living in Leeds to test out the content on the new section for members of the public.

Safeguarding Adult Boards have a legal duty to produce an Annual Report to tell you about our work and safeguarding statistics.
We appreciate that everyone is very busy, so there's a short film giving a summary of the report. The full version can be read on our website.

Susan is well known in the learning disabilities community, campaigning to get the voices of people with learning disabilities heard, speaking up for others, and as a Safeguarding Ambassador in Leeds.
In her book Susan tells how she's never let being born with Down Syndrome hold her back.
"Sometimes people with a learning disability are not listened to or don't understand they are being abused. They often don’t know what to do if they feel something is wrong. I want people to know they are being listened to and that information is explained to them in a way they understand to keep them safe. Because of what happened to me in the past I don’t want this to happen to other people".

A new cuckooing animation has been developed by West Yorkshire Police and the Cuckooing Research & Prevention Network. It provides an introduction to the practice, and is proving to be a valuable educational resource for professionals and the public.
A new toolkit from the Cuckooing Research & Prevention Network has been designed to improve awareness of cuckooing victimisation, encourage professional and public curiosity, and improve reporting and intervention. It has resources such as:

- Know the signs posters & leaflets
DWP have updated their guide about the help available for people who are victims of domestic violence and abuse.
Being a White Ribbon Ambassador or Champion is an effective and meaningful way to further your commitment to ending men’s violence against women and girls. Across the UK, a diverse network of Ambassadors and Champions advocate the White Ribbon message in their workplaces and communities and are instrumental in our work.
UK Police Forces are encouraging carers of vulnerable people, who are at risk of going missing, to compile useful information about them.
Safe and Found Online is a portal that allows users to create a profile storing information such as photographs, medication, known locations and mobile numbers. The profile can save vital time in putting together a search and rescue plan in a missing persons event.
Leeds Safeguarding Children Partnership offer a wide range of training opportunities for people working with children and young people in Leeds.
