eVisas

Everyone who has a right to remain in the UK who doesn’t have British or Irish Citizenship, needs to register for an eVisa online before 31 December 2024. To do this, people will need access to the internet to create a UKVI account, and then download and use the UK immigration ID check app. 100% Digital Leeds has been working with colleagues at Leeds Migration Partnership to better understand the digital inclusion implications of this new requirement. UK Shared Prosperity Fund

100% Digital Leeds was allocated UKSPF funding to increase the capacity of community organisations to increase digital inclusion. The funding had a specific focus on interventions and activities that build people’s confidence to use digital tools and services as an enabler to increase financial resilience. The Highrise Project - Animation Drop-in sessions

Every Wednesday, 3:00pm - 7:00pm, Armley Community Hub, LS12 1UQ

Join The Highrise Project Animation Drop-in sessions and explore a wide variety of animation techniques in a relaxed, creative environment. All materials and equipment are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own devices. Free wifi is available, and you'll receive support from resident artists throughout the session. Drighlington Digital face-to-face drop-ins and wifi cafe

Every Thursday, 10:00am - 1:00pm, Drighlington Methodist Church, BD11 1EL

Join Drighlington Digital's face-to-face digital drop-in sessions, offering guidance to help you improve your digital skills. Whether it's setting up your device, learning new software, or navigating the internet, the sessions provide 1-to-1 support. A wifi cafe is also available, offering a relaxed space for assistance with online tasks. Out Together - Digital Inclusion Training 

Every Thursday, Leeds city centre

Out Together has started running two-hour Digital Inclusion Training every Thursday for members of the LGBTQ+ community. The aim of the sessions is to help people navigate and benefit from an increasingly digital world, while also reducing social isolation. Ascendance Parkinson’s Dance Classes

Every Tuesday, 12:15pm - 1:00pm, online

Ascendance Parkinson’s Dance offers engaging online classes every Tuesday. These lively sessions are designed with a slower pace, making them ideal for older adults. Holbeck Together - digital courses

Holbeck Together is offering one-hour digital courses designed to help you build confidence in using computers, phones, or tablets. These beginner-friendly sessions require no prior experience and aim to get participants comfortable online. Leeds Refugee Forum - Migrants IT Skills Workshops

Leeds Refugee Forum is providing Migrants IT Skills Workshops, a hands-on course aimed at helping migrants improve their computer skills, from beginner to intermediate levels. AI in Libraries - Beyond the Hype

Caring Together drop-in sensory services support

These drop-in sessions, offered by Caring Together in collaboration with BID Leeds Sensory Services (second Wednesday of every month), are open to Leeds residents aged 18 and above who are Blind, Partially Sighted, Hard of Hearing, Deaf, or Deafblind. Attendees can access services including information and advice, equipment and technology support, employment assistance, befriending, mental health support, social groups, and more. Positive Digital Walks

Pyramid, Mencap and Positive Futures have been working together for nearly two years to organise the popular Positive Digital Walks. These give people with learning disabilities an opportunity to explore their local environment while gaining some new digital skills! Leeds Older People’s Forum NHS Services leaflet

This leaflet created by Sam at Leeds Older People's Forum provides a guide to the various NHS applications available. National Youth Agency's new digital learning resource - NatWest Thrive Online 

NatWest Thrive Online is a free, digital learning resource designed by the National Youth Agency to provide youth workers and others working with young people with fresh content to boost their young people’s skills and confidence. NatWest Thrive aims to help young people improve their goal setting, enterprise, and money management skills. Carers Leeds - Digital Carers Corner

Carers Leeds continues to offer the Digital Carers Corner, offering regular monthly updates on their digital support initiatives. This resource provides helpful tips to improve tech skills, runs engaging monthly digital challenges, and features curated recommendations for digital tools and apps. Gale Primary Sources

Gale provides an easy-to-use platform that lets you search all of its digital archives in one place. With this tool, you can explore history through digitised, searchable documents. Handy features like Topic Finder and Term Frequency help you discover new information and connections. The newspaper archive is especially helpful for researching companies, tracing family history, and reading old sports reports. SIM gifting from Leeds Libraries 

To support people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, community hubs and libraries across Leeds have O2, Vodafone and Three mobile SIMs available with up to six months unlimited calls and texts plus data to help people stay in touch and get online. 

People can be signposted to Central Library, Armley Community Hub and Library, Reginald Centre Community Hub and Library, Compton Centre Community Hub and Library, Dewsbury Road Community Hub and Library.

Tablet lending from Leeds Libraries 

Leeds Libraries can support community organisations’ digital inclusion programmes by lending iPads with data to be used with service users. Please email Leeds Libraries to express an interest.

iPads are also available for individuals to borrow at Armley Community Hub and Library, Compton Centre Community Hub and Library, Headingley Community Hub and Library, Holt Park Community Hub and Library, Hunslet Community Hub and Library, Reginald Centre Community Hub and Library, Seacroft Community Hub and Library. People can be signposted to any of these sites to borrow an iPad for up to eight weeks. Proof of address is required to borrow a device.

Digital drop-ins at Leeds Libraries

Need help to use your tablet, smartphone or computer to try something new, say hello or get tech savvy? Every week there are several digital drop-ins at libraries around the city. Supporting basic digital skills with Learn My Way

Learn My Way is a free learning platform from Good Things Foundation that is designed to help people learn basic digital skills. The topics are all aligned with the Essential Digital Skills Framework and range from turning on your device and using a mouse or touch screen through to working with Office programs.

Funding for digital social care records - the clock is ticking!

Those still using paper for care records and registered as CQC care providers can apply for funding to transition to digital social care records (DSCR) via the NHS digitising social care programme. To enable the DSCR team to plan, they request that you express interest in DSCR funding by 25 November 2024. While applications for funding remain open until the end of December 2024, it's important that they receive confirmation of your intent to apply for the funding by 25 November 2024 to facilitate regional planning. Good Things Foundation - Developing AI Literacy With People Who Have Low Or No Digital Skills

In collaboration with Magenta, Good Things Foundation has launched an insightful report titled Developing AI Literacy with People Who Have Low or No Digital Skills. This report investigates practical approaches to support the 8.5 million adults in the UK who lack essential digital skills, empowering them to engage with AI in a safe and accessible way. Funded Cyber Security Support in the North East and Yorkshire

The NHS and the East Business Resilience Centre (NEBRC) are working together to offer funded cyber support to social care organisations in the North East, Yorkshire, and the Humber as part of an anonymised research project. Strengthen your social care organisation with funded support in the following areas: security policy review, internal/external vulnerability assessment, and security awareness training. NICE - recommended digital therapies for depression and anxiety could free up thousands of NHS therapist hours

Demand for NHS Talking Therapies has reached an all-time high. The service received 1.82 million referrals in 2023/24. This is slightly higher than 2021/2022, and more than double the 884,000 received in 2012/13. As more people come forward for help, the NHS is looking to use digital therapies recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to help increase the support available. The British Academy - What are the possibilities of a good digital society?

The British Academy has released a collection of thirteen discussion papers as part of its Digital Society policy programme, exploring the question: ‘What are the possibilities of a good digital society?’ These papers cover topics ranging from the environmental impacts of digital technology on daily life to the role of Generative AI in the cultural and creative sectors. 100% Digital Leeds are keen to support the development of any funding bids with a digital inclusion element, or to help you embed digital inclusion throughout your project. If you would like support contact us.

Some funding links will take you through to the Funding Leeds website and you will need to register to access the information. Once you have registered for free you will have access to a national database of funding sources and get regular email updates on your funding area of interests.

Comic Relief Community Fund for England

Grants are available for grassroots, community-led organisations in England to help support the delivery of services and activity that benefit local communities.

Amount: Up to £5,000.

Deadline: 8 November.

Grants are available to individuals and families across Great Britain to be used to help write off their energy debts.

Amount: Up to £2,000.

A small number of grants are available to not-for-profit frontline groups across the UK for new and imaginative ideas for housing solutions to social injustice.

Leeds Building Society Foundation Fund

Grants are available for UK registered charities undertaking projects to support those in need of a safe and secure home.

Amount: Up to £100,000.

Grants are available to UK registered charities whose work is within the field of care of and services for blind people; long-term care of people with learning disabilities; and care of and services for people living with cancer.
