Belle Isle Gala this Saturday
It’s the Belle Isle Gala this Saturday. It’s going to be three hours of free and low-cost fun for the whole Belle Isle community, with:
Four giant inflatables * Climbing wall * Displays from local groups like majorettes and dance * Circus shows * Stalls with low-cost goods and hot and cold food. Maximum price £4 a plate with plenty of snacks at £1 and £1.50 … and much more.
Come inside Parkside Hub – the old changing rooms. Could this be a new play, sports and community centre for Belle Isle?
If it’s raining the Gala will go ahead inside Windmill School and the Parkside Hub. Please come on foot or by bus if you can. If you drive, please do not park in the school side of Windmill Road.
 At 1.30pm Parkside Field will be renamed Coopers Field after local rugby league stalwarts Colin and Una Cooper. Anyone who ever played rugby on Parkside Fields would be very welcome to join us for a quick ceremony at 1.30pm.
BITMO carries out regular visits to all tenants – every one to three years. It’s a great chance for you to show us any repairs you need doing, to ask for more information or to find out about community activities in BITMO’s GATE or around Belle Isle – all from the comfort of your own home. We will contact you about this – but if you are ready for your visit in the next few weeks, please use the link to put a request in.
Will your child be in Year 3 or 4 from September?
Would you like them to get free tutoring in English and maths? Additional help with maths and English can turbo charge your child’s attainment across all curriculum areas.
BITMO has already run tutoring for a group of children from local schools every Tuesday for two years. It is provided by experienced primary school teachers. The lessons are 4.15pm – 6pm on Tuesdays. We provide a free meal for the whole family from 3.30pm. If you are interested, please call, text or WhatsApp Peter Sutton at BITMO on 07891 274237.
Free family food and activities in the holidays
There’s free food and activities for BITMO households across the whole of the summer holidays. Highlights include:
- A visit from Ian’s Farm – see farm animals outside the BITMO office on Belle Isle Road
- Bouncy castle and go karts
- The Belle Isle beach. Sand pits and donkeys!
There’s free food and activities every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for all 6 weeks. You can get more details throughout the summer on our website here. Here's the programme for the first three weeks.
BITMO Needs You
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Board and help run the organization. This is an opportunity to help shape our activities for the next three years – including ever-more consultation with tenants about what you want to see happen on the estate.
Board members are elected at our Annual General Meeting. This year it will be on 26th September and will include the results of the five-yearly tenant ballot.
To become a Board member you need to register as a shareholder. On 26th July we will be running a raffle of all shareholders with a prize of £50. If you are a tenant and wish to become a shareholder, please contact Karen Hoole at karen.hoole@belleisletmo.co.uk or phone 0113 378 2182 before 23rd July 2024. You will then be eligible for the raffle.
