BITMO's annual report to tenants

BITMO has produced a report for tenants covering the 2022-23 financial year. It gives you information on what BITMO did on important issues like safety, letting homes and tenant satisfaction, as well as setting out priorities for the year ahead. You can read the whole report on the BITMO website.

Stopping condensation and mould in your home

As we enter the colder months, condensation can be a common problem as moisture in the air comes into contact with cold surfaces like windows or walls.  Mould can then grow in areas affected by condensation.  To help reduce some of the problems condensation can cause, please try and follow some simple steps.

Damp and condensation advice

You can also watch a video made by Leeds City Council on how to help prevent mould in your home. If you’re following this advice and damp and mould is a problem in your home you can report it to BITMO.

BITMO – tenant management works

BITMO stands for Belle Isle Tenant Management Organisation. A tenant management organisation (TMO) is an independent legal body that is owned and run by tenants to run their own council housing. TMOs have a tenant led board. What are the other differences between BITMO, the council and other landlords? You can read more here.

BITMO's GATE Programme for November

Here's the November programme for BITMO's GATE. There's free hot food for BITMO households fourteen times this month - including a Nigerian meal cooked by volunteers at 4.30pm on Thursday 16th.

Please let anyone you know who needs help with any online services - bidding for a new home, registering your child for a primary school place, getting council tax support - that there is a lot of help and support in BITMO's GATE and around Belle Isle.

Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour

BITMO works closely with the police to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour to help make Belle Isle a safer place to live.

Every month representatives from the Police, BITMO, Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Team (known as LASBT), local Councillors and Leeds Federated Housing Association meet. The aim is to share information about any issues or concerns within Belle Isle and Middleton and to get feedback from the police about what they are doing to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

Anti-social behaviour can fall in to two categories – tenancy breaches dealt with by BITMO and LASBT or criminal dealt with by the police and LASBT.

It is important that any criminal activity is reported to the police as they rely in part on reports from members of the public to build up a picture and to put resources into areas where crime is being committed.

Quad bikes and drug dealing are still the main cause for concern in our area and are often linked. Recently, a large red quad bike that had been driven recklessly and illegally for several months was tracked down using intelligence and seized.

You can report crime in the following ways:

  • If it is happening right now call 999
  • Call 101 if you can give information on where you see crime regularly being committed such as drug dealing, or where quad and nuisance bikes are being stored call or report it online
  • Or you can report anonymously through Crimestoppers or on 0800 555 111.

Please be careful to make sure that you do not risk your own safety.
