Welcome!
The summer holidays will be skipping into action in a few weeks, but until then we have a fantastic fixture list of family fun, featuring an awesome author event, ground-breaking theatre and a champion reading challenge - Ready, Set, Read!
The Summer Reading Challenge launches Saturday 8th July across all Leeds Libraries
This year's Summer Reading Challenge theme is Ready, Set, Read! and aims to keep children's minds and bodies active over the summer break; empowering young people to forge new connections with others and unleash the power of play, sport and physical activity through reading. It's about celebrating brilliant basketball players and dynamic dancers, as well as champion chess experts. And best of all, it’s completely FREE!
From the 8th July, children can read anything they like – stories, poetry, fact books, comics or listen to audiobooks – it’s up to them! The books (physical or digital) can be borrowed from the library and we recommend reading at least six books over the summer, with a Ready, Set, Read! reward for each of the six books they read. Once they have read their sixth book they complete the challenge and will be awarded a certificate and medal. Howzat!
