One way that we can all help people to be safe is by raising raise public awareness about safeguarding adults.
With people from across Leeds we have created a five minute film about supporting people to be safe from abuse and neglect in our city.
It features short stories about how abuse and neglect can happen and shows how to get help to be safe.
Please watch the film, and we'd be very grateful if you would share it with your colleagues, service users, family, friends and social media.
It is available in English, BSL and with subtitles in some community languages.

People have told us that our logo does not show what safeguarding adults is about. So, we’d like people in Leeds to help us design a new logo.
One winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher and two runners up will each receive a £20 voucher.
The closing date is 27 February 2023.
Please promote our competition to your teams and any citizen groups you facilitate, and don't forget to send in your entry too.

Hearing from people working with adults helps shape safeguarding work in the city, and many of you regularly take part in our consultations.
On our website we now have a short questionnaire for you to tell us about your experiences of safeguarding adults in Leeds and let us know about any areas of work and initiatives you think should be a priority for us.

We know that people who self-neglect can find it difficult to allow practitioners and services into their lives.
We also know the challenges for practitioners and services in engaging and supporting people who find it difficult to accept help.
So, with people from across our city, we have developed a Leeds Self-neglect Strategy.
We are asking all organisations, partnerships and strategic Board's to come together to help us support and protect people who self-neglect in Leeds.

Did you know that we provide talks for members of the public?
We cover the different types of abuse and neglect, people who may be at risk and how to get help and support.
In the past we have been invited to coffee mornings, lunch clubs, activity sessions and general meetings. Our talks are free and can be delivered in person or online any time Monday to Friday. We have received nice feedback.
“A difficult subject communicated well and nicely paced” “Extremely informative, clear, and easy to follow”
We also have leaflets and other resources to bring to fetes, galas and information days. If you would like to arrange for us to come along to one of your events, or if you'd like to arrange a special event about safeguarding adults, please contact us.
