100% Digital Leeds are hosting events as part of the celebration of digital culture
Leeds Digital Festival returns 19 – 30 September 2022 for a two-week celebration of digital culture.
100% Digital Leeds are hosting and contributing to a number of events that make up the programme. To be among the first to hear about events hosted by 100% Digital Leeds follow us on Eventbrite.
Some topics include; a showcase, in partnership with Leeds and Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust, of accessible apps and resources to support people with learning disabilities to move more and stay happy and healthy, and a webinar hosted in partnership with Leeds Older People’s Forum about the ‘Transport Connections’ project, which will explore how bus and taxi apps can help support older people to access transport in the city.

Events and training

Arts in Care Homes Day digital arts programme
We’re celebrating Arts in Care Homes Day with a week-long programme of creative activities open to care providers in Leeds, free of charge. The programme, taking place between Monday 26th and Friday 30th September, includes a range of art forms and cultural activities, such as dance, embroidery, music, and local history (there’s even a virtual canal boat ride!). Sessions are suitable to the needs of people being cared for, such as older people, people living with dementia, and people with learning disabilities.
Care providers can view the programme to find out what’s happening and how to book on to sessions.

Beginners Guide to Creative Live Streaming using OBS: free workshop with Sable and LEEDS 2023
LEEDS 2023 is excited to be working on a monthly series of free workshops in partnership with 100% Digital Leeds that aim to make creative software training more accessible to Leeds communities. Continuing the workshop series, this free workshop with Sable will focus on using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) to show you how to make creative live streams that can be broadcast to multiple platforms including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook.

National Databank Q+A

The databank is tackling data poverty by giving free mobile data to people struggling to afford an internet connection via the Online Centres Network and as the cost of living emergency continues, this support has never been more vital.

Digital Voice for Communities - A trip down memory lane
Digital Voice have a huge collection of short films made by older people about life back in the day to stimulate memories of childhood.
As part of Arts in Care Homes day, they will be sharing tips on how to help a group or individual reminisce, and use free video resources to help stimulate conversation.

Development of the Digital Health Hubs Network
Digital Health Hubs are existing community organisations and locations with trusted people on hand to help their service users overcome barriers to digital inclusion so that they can access relevant information and tools to improve their health and wellbeing. There are currently 26 Digital Health Hubs in Leeds supporting digital inclusion locally with digital skills session, free wifi, 4G data gifting, and device lending.
100% Digital Leeds partnered with Local Care Partnerships (LCP) in Leeds to develop a community-based approach to support digital inclusion for improved digital health participation, with Digital Health Hubs at the heart.
The approach will be rolled-out across the city in an ambitious 24 month plan. The staged implementation plan will start in October 2022 with the support of over £200,000 in Health Inequalities funding which will increase third sector capacity for supporting digital inclusion.
The project will be launched at Leeds Digital Festival with a lunchtime webinar.
Doing digital in later life - A practical guide
Working in Partnership with the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub, Good Things Foundation has produced an evidence-based practical guide for people supporting older people to get online. The guide provides lots of ‘top tips’ on how to give people over 75 digital inclusion support in a way that is right for them.
Digital Poverty in the UK Policy Briefing
A policy briefing paper from the Institute of Development Studies which includes links to other research and features their own survey data on the links between poverty/low income and digital exclusion.
Leeds Refugee Forum join Tech Lending Community
Leeds Refugee Forum is one of five organisations to win funding to set up tablet lending schemes for people living in temporary accommodation as part of the national Tech Lending Community project. The project, led by Hubbub, will see 1000+ refurbished tablets distributed to communities across the UK to help increase digital inclusion. From an incredible 82 applications, five organisations were chosen for funding.

The Princes Community Fund - Supporting Rural Communities
Funding is available to support projects that enhance the sustainability of rural communities. Applications for grants of up to £25,000 over two years, for projects that will create a long-term difference in rural communities across the UK. Open to not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £500,000.

Sustaining Spaced Fund
National Survivors User Network (NSUN) has announced a new fund which will enable the continuation of spaces designed for those of shared identity to come together and support one another’s wellbeing.
Applicants can request grants of £500 to £1,000 for costs associated with sustaining their spaces. This could include tablets or laptops, costs for Zoom or other software subscriptions, volunteer and service user expenses, and materials and publicity for activities.
