The State of Ageing in Leeds
Wednesday, 23 March 2022, 1pm to 2:30pm
Age Friendly Leeds has published a report on the State of Ageing in Leeds. The report looks at data and case studies to understand what it is like to age in Leeds. It considers how and where we are ageing and identifies inequalities experienced by people as they age in our city. Did you know, for example, people in Leeds aged 65 can expect to live around half of the rest of their life free of disability or in good health, and the remaining half of it with a disability or in poor health?
Age Friendly Leeds has also consulted with people in the City to understand their experience of ageing and to gather their views on how we can work together to improve the experience for everyone.
The session will cover:
- insights on ageing in Leeds across all the domains of the age friendly framework (housing; employment and learning; travel and road safety; active included and respected; public and civic spaces; healthy and independent living)
- the issues older people tell us they are facing
- opportunities to get involved with Age Friendly Leeds such as the Age Friendly Ambassadors programme and Age Proud Leeds
This session will be delivered by colleagues from Centre for Ageing Better; Leeds City Council Public Health Older People’s Team and Leeds Older People’s Forum.
