An amazing £9.6 million funding boost for energy efficiency improvements in council homes
In addition to the £80 million of spending to improve the quality of council homes this year, we have secured an extra £9.6 million grant funding contribution for two major projects. This is fantastic news, as means we can bring forward our plans to improve an extra 630 council homes across seven high-rise buildings. This will allow us to improve some of the council’s least insulated properties, to keep homes warm, better ventilated and prevent heat loss.
Improvements to these buildings will give the biggest financial and environmental benefits: Lovell Park Grange, Lovell Park Heights, Lovell Park Towers, Moor Grange Court, Parkway Court, Parkway Grange and Parkway Towers.
We’re continuing the planning phase and aim to start the work towards the end of Spring 2022. We will contact residents in these buildings directly ahead of the works commencing.

Recent weather and its impact on our repairs service
Due to the strong winds and heavy rain over the last two weeks we have seen a large increase in the number of repairs needed. Repairs such as roofing repairs, broken fences and external brickwork. While all emergency repairs are being dealt with in normal timescales, some follow on works are likely to take longer than normal to complete. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Leeds Homeshare: a social option for housing or support.
Leeds City Council’s Homeshare scheme may be a solution for tenants with a spare room who would like support at home, or for people in need of accommodation.
Homeshare matches people looking for help with household tasks, and company, with caring vetted Sharers who move in and provide support - around 10 hours each week. Help can be provided with cleaning, cooking and shared meals, outings, and company but not personal care.
For more information contact: homeshare@leeds.gov.uk or call Emma Harris, scheme coordinator, on 0113 3785410.
A recent participant said, “It has been great that we can get on with each other, and I’m really glad to have a sharer who checks I’m okay, without being in each other’s pockets”
