Leeds Libraries Newsletter - November 2021

Welcome to Leeds Libraries newsletter

Hello and welcome to the November edition of Leeds Libraries newsletter.

On 1 November we will introduce new opening hours across our libraries in response to a survey we carried out earlier this year with Leeds residents.

We're thrilled to be able to hold our annual festive production this year and can't wait for you all to see it. We're also highlighting some other upcoming events and updates from the library service.

If you're not already, make sure you're following us on social media to get the latest news and see what we're up to.

News and updates

New library opening hours

All our opening hours change on Monday 1 November. Visit our website or your local library’s Facebook page to find out more.

We have introduced these new opening hours to reflect what library users asked for in a public survey that we ran earlier this year. People told us that they wanted to see more consistent opening hours, and longer opening on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings. Sunday was the day when people were least likely to visit a library, so we will no longer open on Sundays.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey. The full range of support and services available in our libraries will continue as before, and the opening times of the Community Hubs will stay the same.

Ready Steady Readers

The Ready Steady Readers programme is back to get pre-school children enjoying books and reading. Grab a Ready Steady Readers booklet from your local library to  get top tips for making the most out of reading with your family. Children will get a gold star each time they come into the library and a certificate once they have six stars on their race track. Find your nearest library.

Story and rhyme

Our popular story and rhyme sessions are returning as part of Ready Steady Readers. If you're looking for fun activities to do with young children, join us at your nearest library for an hour of stories, rhymes and fun songs. The sessions are perfect for under 5s and their families. Ask at your local library for details in your area.
