Mental Health Awareness Week 10-16 May

Mental Health Awareness Week

This week marks Mental Health Awareness week, and we’re sharing a range of resources to support positive mental health and wellbeing.

This year's theme is nature. Reading books and spending time in nature can both be a powerful source of comfort and escapism and have a profound impact on our mental health.

The Reading Agency's Reading Well for Mental Health book list provides lots of helpful information and support for looking after your mental health. You can find the full list here and access these titles for free over on our online catalogue

We also have a range of eBook and eAudio titles on BorrowBox

#Digital121

According to the Reading Agency, feelings of loneliness have more than doubled over the lockdown period and one in four adults in the UK have felt lonely.

Over the past year, we know also that more services have moved online and access to digital devices has become even more important to stay in touch with others.

We’re committed to helping everyone across the city to become more digitally included and gain confidence using digital devices through our #Digital121 service.

Improving your digital skills can help you:

  • Access library resources - borrow eBooks or eMagazines, discover your family history, join our online talks and workshops, get business advice
  • Save money on your shopping or bills
  • Keep in touch with family and friends using tools, such as Zoom or Teams
  • Manage your health online, and much more...

If you, or someone you know, would like a bit more help to get online or extra support using a laptop, tablet or smartphone, call us on 0113 378 5005 or email leedslibraries@leeds.gov.uk
