Otley Flood Alleviation Scheme
Construction begins on the Otley FAS
Construction of the Otley FAS has begun, with contractors BMMjv arriving on site this week at the former Cattle Market ground, Billams Hill.
Construction is expected to be completed in November 2021 and the project team will be on site between 08:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, plus the occasional Saturday morning if required.
In the next few weeks, you may notice some increased traffic throughout the town.
Please be assured we will keep noise disruption to a minimum and will only operate between office hours.
Our first task will be setting up the site. This will include installing temporary cabin offices and securing the area.
Footpath diversion and access to Otley Sailing Club
Once we have set up the site, we will be working on the temporary diversion routes for the public way of right way (footpath) and access to Otley Sailing Club.
The work on these routes consists of laying a temporary surface and improving the structure crossing the drainage ditch to allow vehicular access. Work will also begin to prepare for the installation of new culverts (underground pipes) along with other drainage works.
Below is a plan of the public right of way footpath diversion route and the vehicular access diversion route for the Sailing Club, along with the new permanent diversion route. These will change over at different points in the scheme but will be clearly signed and noted on our noticeboard which will erected and visible from the footway on Billams Hill. It will also display project information and our weekly look ahead of works on site.
 April 2021
Towards the start or middle of April, we expect to begin the first phase of piling works.
This work may be noisy, however, we will keep this to a minimum and will only take place between office hours.
Celebrating International Women's Day
Monday 8th March marked International Women's Day, a day of celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
To mark the day, we would like to introduce you to the women in the Otley FAS project team who have played very important roles in the development and delivery of the scheme.
