Dear Tenant
Everyone at Housing Leeds hopes you are well and staying safe at home.
With the national lockdown continuing, we want to make sure you’re aware of the help and support available, as well as keep you updated about our services.
- We’re continuing to accept and carry out all types of repairs. However, due to COVID-19 we may have fewer staff available to carry out repairs in the usual timescales. This means there may be some delays in completing certain repairs. We thank you for your patience and assure you all repairs will be completed as soon as we can.
- If you’ve a minor repair that doesn’t inconvenience you or impact on the safety of you or your home, it would help us if you report these when the current national restrictions are lifted.
- To keep you and our workers safe, please can you ensure that you:
- Tell us if you or anyone in your home have any symptoms of coronavirus before we visit, or are awaiting test results
- Maintain 2m social distancing with our staff and contractors
- Where possible, open the windows slightly during the visit to ventilate your home and help prevent the spread of the virus.
- We continue to invest in your homes through a range of planned improvements. This includes heating and energy improvements, fire safety, Health and Safety, new kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, windows and doors.
- All visits by our staff and contractors are carried out following government guidance. Strict working practices are in place to maintain social distancing, wear face coverings in all enclosed spaces, regularly hand wash and use hand sanitisation.
- Our local housing teams are here to deal with any queries or requests you have. Please contact us if you need any additional support. If you are worried about paying your rent or other bills, you can contact us by phone or by email.
If there are any future changes to our services we will let you know here.
Please keep up to date about the national lockdown and what you can and can’t do on GOV.UK and the support available for people and communities in Leeds here. You can also find out how the COVID-19 vaccine is being given to people in Leeds
Volunteers wanted for ‘smart healthy homes’ trials
We’re working with two companies, AwareTag and HomeLINK on a national, government-funded project. The aim of the project is to investigate how using small in-house sensors and mobile apps could help measure things such as temperature and humidity. We can then use this information to better manage and inform future investment plans, give better advice and support to tenants to help them with their health and well-being, and detect potential issues such as homes at risk of damp.
We need YOUR help! - We’re looking for volunteer tenants to take part and trial these small sensors in their home. The project will also explore how the information collected could be shared with tenants themselves and what kinds of information you might find most useful.
If you’re interested in taking part, please contact us at housinginvolvement@leeds.gov.uk with your name, address, email and telephone number and confirmation that you’ve read our privacy notice. We’ll then forward your details to the company carrying out the trials in your area.
The two companies are keen to hear from as many tenants as possible, and may be able to help anyone who isn’t online or doesn’t have a mobile device to be part of the trial too.
