New strategy for Leeds sets out ambitious targets to almost double tree cover in the city by 2050.
The White Rose Forest for Leeds strategy will improve the quality, quantity and access of woodland across the city, ensuring that no household in Leeds is further than 500m from wooded spaces by 2050. As Leeds residents know their areas best, the council will encourage individuals to help bring the White Rose Forest to their community by identifying areas suitable for planting and volunteering time to plant and maintain trees.
Animation shows how Leeds’ new £38.5 million park and ride will look once complete.
The development at Stourton will be the first fully solar powered park and ride site in the UK and will be served by an electric bus fleet. The site will save 471 tonnes of carbon from transport each year whilst providing quicker and more reliable journey times into the city centre. Watch the animation.
More than 2,000 miles pedalled on the electric bike trials scheme.
Leeds City Council’s e-bike trials scheme gives commuters who live and work in Leeds the opportunity to trial an electric bike free of charge. In line with national restrictions, you should work from home if you can. However, key workers or those who cannot reasonably work from home can still register to take part in the scheme.
